Mordechai Vanunu

After being illegaly arrested in Italy by the mossad in 1986 Mordechai Vanunu was freed in Israel today amongst celebrations by a few and calls for his death as a traitor by others.
He cant call himself a free man tough as he will still be imprisoned and unable to stray too far from the appartment he has been assigned by the Israeli government.

Mid 80s he was the one that outed Israels nuclear capabilities.
Up to his whistleblowing the official Israeli line was that Israel didnt have nuclear capabilities and would not be the first one in the middle east to aquire them.

Of course other countries KNEW Israel had nuclear capibilities and most likely had nuclear weapons already, it was a factor in Saddam´s decisions to start his own program in the early 80s.

The US as well was aware of Israels capabilities and thus made a mockery of their own laws wich state that no aid can be given to countries that didnt sign the nuclear non proliferation treaties(Israel has not) and countries who dont come clean with their capabilities.

Since the jailing of Vanunu he has been legaly adopted by a US family after his own Jewish family disowned him and he has converted to Christianity.

It is estimated now that Israel has had a working nuke since 67, probably had around 80 short distance nukes and no capabilities to deliver the warheads worldwide in 86 and around 200 today with capabilities to deliver the warheads annywhere on the world by way of long distance missiles and nuclear submarines wich they since then have aquired.

In other words Israel has the capability to deliver nuclear blasts to any spot on the world, a capibility not previously enjoyed by nuclear countries other then the US, former Russia and France.

How dare those crummy Jews arm themselves when every one of their neighboring states are out to destroy them! They're ungentlemanly blackguards, they are.

Urm Israels military is stronger then that of the entire Arab world combined, and thats WITOUTH nukes.

And like I said the fact that Israel was double faced and guilty of everything they acuse others of and actually started Sddams drive for the same weapons is whats worrying the most.
That and US hipocrasy.

Israel having nukes doesn't bother me particularly, since they don't seem crazy enough to use them (especially when most of their enemies are close neighbours).

But the whole cover-up/lying business does stink. Not that it's shocking or anything - the US ignoring its own laws during the Cold War isn't news.

Urm they continue to ignore em to this day you know.
And heh plenty of Israeli hardliners have said they would have no qualms using em.

Yes, I know! We in Hawaii are well aware of this (look up some Pacific history circa 1893 for a good precedence).

But the Cold War appears to have had more of it going on than usual.

So am I! Links are out there.

But to make a long story short, the US, in violation of its own laws, conspired to overthrow the Hawaiian government in 1893, which paved the way for annexation in 1898. The prime motive for this was to take control of Pearl Harbor and gain a much-needed naval base in the Pacific. Commercial interests in the sugar-growing industry also played a big part.

Although this was before "weapons of mass destruction" were ever dreamed up, all sorts of silly excuses were thought of. Such as "the Japanese are trying to take over Hawaii by flooding it with immigrants who might be spies".

It doesn't work that way. Acquiring nukes goes way beyond "arming yourself", and the Israelis have recently dropped below the North Koreans and Atari Jaguar fans on my list of rational people. Hiding nukes in the area most likely to set off World War III without bothering with any of the treaties the rest of the nuclear world signed is dirty pool. I mean, whenever Dubya breaks the non-proliferation treaty, at least he can say they tried.
