Questions about Dragon Quest/Dragon Warrior series...

Dude, that sucks. But instead of starting over, you could have leveled the princess to 23, which is when she gets the Open spell. As its name implies, it can open any locked door. I'm sure that would've been much faster than starting all over.

that's fukked up. hey, has anyone here played any of the dragon warrior monsters games for gbc? i kinda wanna get into it but i need more info on the gameplay. and is the gba dwm comming out here, or what?

A) I own the first one on GBC. It's okay, but it SUCKS that controlling your characters manually requires you to actually select "Command" from the change tactics menu. Otherwise, it's AI by default, and it's typical suck-shit DQ AI.

It's also full of random dungeons. Well, they're not really "dungeons", more like areas with fields/forests/mountains, etc. but they're randomly generated, which makes hunting for items a real chore. Where I'm at in the game, the dungeons are like, 24 floors long. They take FOREVER, and you can't save unless you luck out and get a special floor.

Like I said, it's an okay game. It's full of fanservice, and if you've played DQ1-6, you'll recognize a lot of locations, music, etc. You can also breed your monsters, which is pretty cool. Metal Slime + Metal Slime = Metal Babble. I have a metal slime with 90 HP, and it only takes 1 HP of damage at a time. Rock.

B) Probably not. The DWM games on GBC didn't sell very well. Enix did a remake for Playstation, but that didn't make it out here. If I were you, I'd be wishing for Slime Morimori DQ instead, that game looks great.

It's a top-down action/adventure game where you play as a slime. You can download the Japanese commercial for it here (scroll down a bit). It'll show you some gameplay footage.
