Well it came in a gray xbox box with a lot of old games on it, so I'm assuming that it was an old stock of launch xboxes, one's they probably knew had the shitty drives in them.

It is anyone's guess if MD knew if these were bad consoles. They may very well have known, and got a good deal on them because they were shitty. Microsoft on the other hand did know. They knew these where launch xboes and they knew what drives they put in them.

Kind of makes you feel sorry for all the other people who got Dew Boxes out of the deal to. I mean its not like anyone can drink that much Mountain Dew in that short period to earn the thing. Everybody who got these had to go work/diggin for these caps :(

Well most of them probably won't be dead out of the box, but die later. I don't know if there will be anything they can do about it either. Do you have to have a date of purchase to send your xbox to get it fixed?

Good question. With no receipt they may be SOL. If they cant pull a Walmart switch-a-roo like you than the only other option would be to pay to have it fixed. And I guess you'd have to pay a third party other than Microsoft to do it - unless you have some kind of proof you won it through MD.
