E3 Get-together

Here's the official brainstorming thread for this year's big meeting. If you will be in the Los Angeles area anytime during the week of May 10-15, we want you to try your damndest to attend. There will be food, drink, merriment, and TNL celebrities galore. Don't worry if you're shy/geeky/ugly - just show up and we outgoing/witty/beautiful people will do all the heavy lifting. I promise.

Obviously, we need a time and date. Tuesday the 11th is definitely out; too much going on that night and the next morning. I think we should probably shoot for Wednesday, after the show closes for the day. E3 lets out at 6 PM on Wednesday and Thursday, 4 PM on Friday. I say we do maybe an 8:00 dinner and whatever else on the 12th where everyone comes, then we do a Friday all-nighter. The first event should be somewhere spacious but not too expensive.

E3 vets and L.A. residents (even if you aren't planning to attend), let's come up with a good place. Also, if there are some Wednesday industry parties I'm not aware of, let me know and we can figure out a better time.

If E3 was one week later, and I had a thing called money...I would so be there.

I'll be in the area at some point, but i dont know when.

If I'm around, im trying to hang out.

I vote dinner on Wednesday, see some nightlife on Friday. I don't think I'll make the Getty this time around, since my plane leaves at 6 AM on Saturday.

Friday nightlife...like clubs and such? Or just spots to hang around at? For the first, there's a number, but I can't think of the names atm. If it's hangout spots, there's a few places in Long Beach, the Block in Anaheim, Universal Citywalk...

Tons more, I'm sure, but I'm going from what I know in my area.

Don't go to The Block...it's like 5 minutes from my house...much to close for comfort.
Also, it's quite lame

But most of those places you mentioned will be pretty far away, I'm pretty sure they're lookign for something fairly close to the convention center, and surrounding areas. Since not everyone will have a car.

Wednesday is out of the question for me.
I will be hanging with Tezuka, Aonuma and Miyamoto on wednesday from 5pm till 8.15pm and after that ill be jetting of to beverly hills for a cozy NoE party with some other peeps.

Anyways, you guys dont NEED me to be present do you?
Im sure a few people would rather not have me around anyway so maybe its for the best then that you peeps go out and have fun on saturday.

I don't know if I'll be able to attend this special event either.

I'm in for anything. I live in San Diego county so getting there isnt a problem. getting back is. but if our ride doesnt want to hang out, and there isnt a train heading back to SD at night then Opaque, NGEFreek, and I will have to sit at an all-night diner and just keep ordering coffee.

Or if anyone is willing to share a hotel room, I'll take the bathtub (and then move into the closet later that night)

I remember the year before we all went to California Pizza Kitchen, which was nice. It was the day after I think that we went to Bucca de Peppo (Beppo?) and we just strolled around the Santa Monica area. Nick, I'm never going to forget the night you argued with the Jesus guys, I wish I had that on video.

Johnny Rockets was nice too, those of you who were the the year before, remember when they all started singing and dancing around?

Good times.

Any of those days are fine with me, at least I won't be sleep deprived and half out of it this time like I was last time from being up more then 24 hours that day while getting 3 hours sleep the night before and the flight to boot :sweat:

I like to eat, so I'm always up for hooking up for food ;)

As before, my office is 2 blocks from the Convention Center, so I'm pretty much available for dinner any of those days.

Also, if some of you are interested in grabbing lunch during the week, just PM me and we'll set something up. [Last year, lunch with me made Sqoon's E3 highlight list -- so there.]

I'm good either day. You guys sort it out, I'll be there.

Wednesday or Thursday after 6 is fine. I get out of work at 6 in Woodland Hills, which is north of L.A. I'm always up for dinner and drinks, but I'm not really a "nightlife" kind of guy. I went to the Grand Lux a few nights ago with Stone and some friends and it was an awesome place. Might have to be something we arranged beforehand if we went there, though.

Note that Thursday traffic is usually the worst. I can't imagine it being any better with E3 in the area.

I will be there to prove that Kano and me really are the same person, and we really did make it to the top 3 of the semi-national Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance skill tournament.

I'll be there this year, but we're shorthanded as hell at work and I could only get the 12th and 13th off, so either Wednesday or Thursday would be preferable. Wherever you guys wanna eat is cool with me :)

I'll be hitting LA sometime between very late Monday night and very early Wednesday morning. I'm leaving either Wednesday or Thursday this week so someone PM me your cell # or something so you can fill me in on where everyone is meeting up once I get out there. Since I'm driving several thousand miles I may as well finally meet some of you. Any day or time is good for me, I've got nothing planed so far.

Not sure what my plans are exactly, but if nothing else is going on I'll make an attempt to be wherever this ends up. We can always meet up at the Sky Box restaurant by the Staple's Center or something and go from there.

Us will also be signing photographs, although you have to bring your own.

It looks like Wednesday or Thursday are the best days. In 2002, we had dinner at California Pizza Kitchen, in 2003, we had CPF, I'm up for it again. :) It seems to have turned into a TNL tradition.

Thursday night aint possible for me either as I will have to decide between eating at The Lobster in Santa Monica courtesy of Sony or eating Sushi in Hollywood with J. Allard courtesy of MS.

Whatever you guys do, have fun, I sadly wont be around.

Roundtable with Miyamoto, Aonuma and Tezuka get, yet another 1on1 with Miyamoto get yet again.

Entrance to Nintendo trade mart get(after press conference a selct group of like 30 journalists worldwide are invited to stay for a few houres more and play the games that will be at the showfloor the next day with the developers of those titles present to aid them and answer questions, some games playable there will NOT be at the showfloor and will NOT be officialy shown at all).
