What the fuck is with developers and making things have prequels? Atleast it's not an entire prequel... and maybe it could be good to play flashbacks or something, I don't know. But fuck, everything is a fucking prequel now.

I agree that first is a great and very underrated game. Very cool style, some great action and Rau was a badass with his weapons.
Its sad to find out that he dies, and I wonder how the game will rezolve that.
Hopefully Rau starts this game with all his weapons and moves from the first one. As good as Kri is, I hope the sequel expands on its potential. And the artwork better be the same.
Well, Rau seemed to have some connections with the gods from the first game, That could be a easy way to bring him back & stay within the storyline. Remember, Rau is supposed to become a legendary warrior by the time the trillogy is over.

For the prequel issue: If they don't put a number 2 on the end of it, that's cool. I hate when a game is a prequel, though, and it's numbered as a sequel... DMC3 for example. How can it be '3' if it takes place before the first game? It's like the developers have no concept of numbers' primary use, which is to illustrate sequence.

THE GAME STARTS WITH HIS DEATH, then works it's way back through the events that led to it. The end is at the beginning of the game.
It takes place 10 years after the original Kri. Hell, you can even play as his grown-up and now fuckable sister.
There's maybe a flashback sequence or level, but that does not a prequel make this.

Theres a latin term 'in medias res' which is used to describe works of art that start the story from the middle and go 'into the midst of things', y'know like some of the best stories ever told, like The Odyssey and Kill Bill. Damn people , get with your literary devices.
I hope this game has as cool of a commercial as the first one did. I dug this game for a while, but for some reason, by the time I got to level 5 (the one on the docks), I was tired of it and never finished it. Partially because of the camera, and partially because they'd give you a new move, and when you got in the level, it was painfully obvious you were supposed to use said move in certain spots. Hand-holding or something.
Agreed. Beyond the marvelous art direction, the gameplay itself felt like one extensive training mission, especially after the first time through. I'm hoping the sequel is a little more open-ended, with more flexible gameplay.Quote:

I played it some this weekend and had fun with it.
I was kind of surprised to see Baumusu playable after what happened in the last game, but this game is narrated (again) from the perspective of a time traveling Kuzo to investigate the how's and why's to Rau being murdered.
Baumusu plays just like Rau with a few different variations on his combos, but Griz and Tati both play like tribal ninjas,and each have some cool variations on the combos. One of Griz's has him toss his pike/staff to the enemy at which the enemy looks at it, back to Griz, then throws it at Griz, to which he dodges it, arm locks the guy and flips him onto the thrown staff impaling the enemy on it. Those plus the wall stealths and standard stealth moves for the new characters look pretty fluid and slick. (except Baumusu who seems to only have one)
I was kind of annoyed at first by the inability to control my traveling partner somewhat.I'd be trying to plan my next strategy on a camp full of guys with a horn blower off to the side, and Griz would just run in on his own, 'disturbing the hornets nest'. I've only played 2 or 3 levels into it, so maybe the partner AI gets better, I dont know? I have to admit it is more fun running into fights this time with a partner, and if there are any levels in this one like the final undead city in Mark of Kri(ie. WAY too many repetitive rooms with WAY too many undead fighters + archers) it will surely be a welcomed addition.
It was awesome playing as Rau on the nighttime city , stealth level ,though and looking down on the streets below you to see Tati creeping up on and stealth killing guards, while you do the same on the rooftops.When you finally end up in the same spot halfway through the city she looks at you and silently motions with her dagger to a room , then gives a neck slit motion before running off to stir up trouble which I thought was cool.
Anyways, fun game. If you like Mark of Kri you should like this one. And if the last level of Kri made you almost hate the game like I ended up doing for a bit than you'll still like this one.
Oh, and if you have the completion data from Mark of Kri you get to start with multiple costumes for all of the characters - Kabuki Rau for teh win!
I got it a month or so ago for review, and I dig it. The new partner play is great, since it gives you a chance to rest, and it adds a new dimension to exploring the terrain. Definitely a worthy follow-up to Mark of Kri.
Dont listen to Jetman, this game is complete shit and an embarrassment to the original. It wouldve been better if Sony stuck with their instinct and never released it.
I never finished the last two arena challenges in the original.

Heh, yeah I gave up on those too, and one of Baumusu's challenges on the snow stage I couldnt do either ( it was like do a combo with a guy back and to your left or someshit - I worked on it with groups of enemies for more than an hour and just said fuck Baumusu and his bullshit and moved on)Quote:
