The Divine Comedy

Well, it's time for finals for most, as it is for me. My English class was assigned a paper in which each of us was to fit a person in politics, mythology, literature, or history in a specific circle of the Inferno (which we have never read or discussed in class. I find that funny.). I was given Circle IX, rings ii and iii. I was also told to find a person who could fit in both rings. That would mean one who is treacherous to both country and guests. I've been racking my brain for quite some time now, and have come up with nobody (though, Brutus of Cesar-murdering fame was suggested as a denizen for ring ii). If anybody could think of a person who fits the description of both rings, it would be most appreciated.

I still find it funny that this work is responsible for the majority of the popular view of hell (especially being that it was not specifically mentioned in the Bible)...

Don't periods go outside of the quotation if you're quoting a phrase or something like that, though?

The only time a period or comma would go outside the quotation mark is if there is a parenthetical citation after the quote, but that situation usually only occurs in researched writing.

how about macbeth? in murdering the king who is staying at his castle, he betrays both the country, since the king is the symbolic head of the country, and guests, since the king is staying at his castle. If you are allowed to use well known fictional characters, that one would best fit it.

Though, I think I'm using Hitler.
Reasoning: By rallying his country to his own ideals of hatred, he betrayed it. His "guests," the Jews living in a mostly Christian country, were the main target of his hatred, and thus, he betrayed them.
...y'know, what with the identification and the genocide and all.
