F is for finals
I just got back from a 2 hour walk, or maybe 3 hours, I'm not really sure. I took this walk to calm my nervs, and because it may be the last time I ever actually live in this city.
I do not plan on going to this school next semester, and if I ever do return it will not be under my current major. I had to drop one class due to the complete lacking in the teachers ability. One I dropped later due to no matter how hard I worked in the class I just couldn't pass any of the test. The one class I know I have at least a C or a B in won't even go towards my major. That leaves the class in which I have a final in today.
This class being CS 155, or C++. Somehow I got it in my head that the programs counted 60% of my grade. The reality of the situtation is that if I do not get at least 60% of the total points on the TEST, I automatically get a F. I got a C on the first test. The second and third one I failed horribly. I had gotten really behind by spending virtually all my study time doing physics homework. I never managed to make up for that even after dropping physics.
I stayed at the dorm thursday up untill now. I even missed mothers day. I took all my video games out of my room, and packed up all my books. All ive done is study. Tonight me and a friend studied. I still couldn't answer his simple questions about arrays and pointers. I knew then, at 3.40 in the morning, that I could not pass the test, and in that, could not pass the class. I knew that no matter how hard I worked on the final, I would not be able to make a high enough grade to pass.
I then went for a walk and I'm just now getting back.
It is 30 menuits untill the final, I think I may finally go to sleep. I haven't slept sense sometime yesterday.

I know it sucks having shitty teachers, bro. As a matter of fact I happened to have a shitty physics teacher myself. NOBODY could pass this guys class. Class average was in the mid 60's.The "doctor" as he wanted us to call him (what an ass) finally got promoted or fired or whatever the hell you want to call it, the semester after ravaging my GPA with his class. It sucked, maked me want to change my major, hell it made me stop going to school for a while.Next semester I plan on hitting the classes agian. Yeah, Ill take physics, and probably some *takes a deep breath* upper level Calculus :xx:
But, Im not going to give up until I get this peice of fucking paper that says Im smart. And you shouldnt either.
Stay on the horse, man. As long as you know you gave it your best shot, and put your all into that class/test then dont sweat it.Everything happens for a reason, and maybe that just means Computer Science isnt meant for you.Maybe it is and you just need better teachers. Either way if you are transferring you are trying to fix the problem which is good, and puts you on the right track - Hang in...

Thanks Jet. Someone should really put out a book on the bullshit politics of Colleges these days. American 4 year colleges make the US government look sensable and smart.

you'll have to deal with shitty teachers all the time while you're in school. Learn to work with what you have, even if it means taking initiative on your own. The stars are never going to align perfectly all the time.

We should really have an official finals thread. Mine are over but I'm pretty angry at myself for keeping 80+ in my death and dying class, until the last exam where I didn't study a bit, which will probably bring me down to a low 70's grade. *sigh*

Not to be a blunt ass, but getting out of CS will probably be a very good decision for you. If you don't just "get" programming, you'll never survive on the job. I am constantly given say a new API with no documentation, that often has to be programmed in a language I've never used before, and I have to have good productivity essentially immediately. If you struggle with CS classes, the real world will eat you alive.
And not to mention, CS is as dead as dead can be. Unless you want to go work in India. CS is a terrible major to go into, even if you are really good at it.

I'm not a CS major. I am a comp Eng major.

Well, I've got finals myself this week. I'm stressing out a bit over my two today, but other then that I'm not too bad off. Lithium is right though, at this point CS is a really bad major to have.
