I'm not in the mood to buy another system, especially when those handhelds will be greater than or equal to the price of any home console. Unfortunately, judging by Sony's and Nintendo's conferences, that's also where most of the hype and resources are going the rest of this year. Sony especially disappointed me by omitting any official Nico announcement from their presentation.
The only impressive surprise announcement for a console was the new Zelda. I guess I'll buy that when it comes out, but -as is the case with all Nintendo releases lately- same game, different coat of paint. I'd be more impressed if they could confirm elimination of on-screen menus and the tired collect-a-thon gameplay. More action & puzzles, less collection, please.

Microsoft and Nintendo are equal in my mind. Microsoft showed off one Hell of a line-up for the year, actually got me excited about Halo 2 (First time ever), video conferencing (Awesome for people like me and Mzo who use voice chat to CANOODLE TEE HEE~), EA on live being the greatest announcement ever and tons more. If you have any interest in online gaming, XBOX is the place to be this year. Sure, a lot of this stuff is old but the stuff they showed was incredible. I haven't been this excited for a console in a long time.
Nintendo? Uhh..the DS looks to be the greatest hand held thing since a Quizno's sub. I didn't really care until they said the magic words.

Sony had the most piss poor conference ever. A Lynx-Sized PSP and a drop in PS2 price. Oh-Fucking-Boy.
I think Nintendo just told people to shut the fuck up with there pre-show conference. For over a year people have been doubting them (me being the biggest supporter of the "Wow Nintendo sucks dick these days" party) and then they bend everyone over and say "Hey sorry fuckers, we are going to start to make good shit, trust us." by releasing the new and SEXY Zelda, the new DS which will totally rule and Miyamoto in Zelda apparel. They really know how to make their shit heard.
Nintendo, I am REALLY sorry for ever doubting you cunts. You know how to steal the whole show each and every year... except for last year.
