lol! I'm in the exact same boat. The stack is so big and just keeps on growing and growing that playing any game seems like a waste. Even if I beat it, big deal, it's not even a scratch on the surface. So I just don't play anything most of the time.

And I definitely have more fun buying games than playing them. Last week, I decided I had to have Shadow Tower PSX (after reading some Abyss stuff). I couldn't understand how I'd thought I could live without it. At that moment I was desperate to being play it, nevermind the waterfall of games streaming out of my shelves -- many of which I'd acquired in a similar feverish frenzy and then promptly forgot. So I bought ST on ebay that day or the next, got it in the mail within the week... and now it sits on my stack and I haven't the slightest desire to play it. :lol:

I did play some Nox a couple days ago and had fun. I think it was Red Bull induced enjoyment though more than anything.

I still love to play video games just as much as I enjoy talking about them. If I'm home, I'm playing a video game or setting up a game with some friends. That said, since I'm still out of a job I've been playing a lot of games recently =X

Playing with friends is one thing I dont think I'll ever get tired of. It seems to make me want to play more. There are times when staying on TNL is more fun, but most of the time its because I just finished some epic Japan style RPG that takes 80 hours to finish.

There was a time when I would play something to death, leave it at 50% completion and jump to the next best thing. Their was an article in GMR by the Gaming Geezer that explained this very well. Not appreciating anything. Now I'm just commited to finishing everything I have until I can buy something...

Compass: Yep, as of late I seem to enjoy the thrill of the hunt more than enjoying the resulting feast, as well. Lately, after I get off of work, I think I've actually been looking forward more to going to scour used game stores and pawn shops for good deals and finds than actually going home and playing the darn things... 9____9;

And would everyone be so kind as to stop blowing PaCrappa's comments out of proportion? His comments just seem to be lighthearted poking fun to me, nothing to get so worked up about.

I read and talk about games more because it makes it more exciting to actually play them.

Boxing or MMA fans talk and read more about it to get the anticipation going, as do I.

That and I'm stuck at work all day every day.

I play too much in fact, but since I don't have a job that's some what a given.
But I found myself being bored with gaming a couple of years back, I thought about the situation and found out that I should return to my roots where short challenging games was king. I don't spend much time with "shitty 16bit games" though since this new found love has made me discover a gigantic ever increasing library of great games, branching out and trying new things is important.

And it's a fucking bliss around these parts I tell you, staying away as much as I can from message boards is a good way of preserving my interest, for some it's no longer a hobby and that's people I tend to stear clear off.

On the topic of "shitty 16-bit games": Sometimes I find myself playing them more than modern games. Not because of nostalgia, but because there's simply no hype for a game that's more than a decade old. No one is talking about it, so the experience seems fresh, unique.

By the way, this thread is a good one, so let's keep it amicable. Certain parties could have thought better of the way they worded things, other parties could have been more tactful in their retorts, and the real victims are those that were enjoying a spirited convo.

Let's keep it civil. Nobody is getting banned because of this type of tomfoolery, but we owe it to ourselves to keep cool.

Anyway: I've said it before and I'll say it again. For all you people that are "done" with gaming, you will be back. They all come back. The secret to longevity of interest is to diversify your hobby and interest portfolio. When I start to get bored of gaming on the whole I spend some time with another hobby for a while, until I get bored of that and it is back to games. That and giving up RPGs.

I am constantly amazed that people have time to play them in their entirety.
