This is odd. It sounds like Europe is getting a new version of the C64 with built-in games.

Sounds like it's only one of those "Atari joystick" dealies with built-in games. Eh.
Wonder how much they cost to make. Certainly far less than they're charging, I'd think.
I wonder what games they'll include. Those Atari/Activision/Namco ones all have games from the individual companies whereas the C64's best games are spread out among several companies, many of which are dead.
i think i saw a thread about this at gaming age. site's down now, so i can't give you the link. i do, however, remember that space taxi was not listed as one of the games up for inclusion. this is a crime.
bah, only 30 titles :(
Meh...
If it doesn't have a 6581 SID chip, its not a C64.
Since Gateway owns all of the MOS patents, and has no reason to bother with this, we wont see any new chips made.
I wonder if this will be based on the C64GS game console. I can't imagine one of those tv game gadgets with a full keyboard.
It'll just be some kind of mini CPU that can emulate a C64. It won't actually be a miniature C64. And the video output will probably just be AV!
Sad that the world's supply of SID chips ran out... I really wanted to by one of those SID Station synthesizers, but the price went through the roof once the chip supply dried up.Quote:
