"Divineo announced a new unofficial PlayStation 2 software called HD Loader, which allows you to install and run your PS2 CD and DVD games directly from a hard drive, effectively cut down the disc access time of games.

HD Loader is also compatible with both Sony's 40GB HDD and third party hard drives, you can choose a hard drive from 40GB to 120GB and install it in the hard drive bay behind the Network Adapter.

There are a few drawbacks to HD Loader, first it does not work with PSone games, second it is incompatible with DNAS (Dynamic Network Authentication System), therefore you cannot go online with a DNAS enabled game. So you still need to run all DNAS enabled game from the game discs.

A small number of games are not compatible with HD Loader, such as Resident Evil Outbreak, MX 2002, Peter Pan and Ratchet & Clank."

yes old but it wasn't posted here yet. wonder why SONY hasnt stepped up to stop this yet considering its something they should have developed anyway.

Can people hook up their hard drive to a PC, and download game images onto it from the net? I don't own a PS2 or know anything about the HD, but it's surely a standard IDE drive, right?

Part of the reason I got the DMS chip was because I have the hopes that someone will make a program that will launch PS1 ISOs from the HD. This program makes me happy. Of course, it's PS2 games and I probably wouldn't copy any but the CD ROM games (shooters, mainly), but still.

its standard but formatted differently. theres ways around it but im trying to understand what you're asking to do? what good would a ps2 game and hdd be without a ps2?

you would still need a mod chip to be able to play anything downloaded as well and most current mod chips and the hdd dont co-exist very well atm.

Hmmmm.... Anybody know if this can work with Japanese games on a non-mod chipped systsem? I kind of doubt it since you can't really do a disk swap with a hard drive image.... Bummer. This would be perfect for DDR and IIDX.

you dont need a mod chip to use this app. other than that i know there will be Pal and NTSC flavors.

I'm going to get this so I can put all my cd based games on my hdd, so I can still play them when my system stops playing cd games again.
