I got a confirmation email today telling me that my PS2 HD Loader has shipped(yipppeeeeeee). so i went out at bought an internal 80GB maxtor hard drive and installed it. can't wait to try it out in a few days. impressions soon, ;)
How much did it cost you? I'm seriously considering grabbing this and a cheapo hd next month...
ah nice
from ps2ownz.com
so like, whatever that meant! :\Quote:
Now on to the news... although the 1:1 image released is 100% valid, as we mentioned in our past news there is anti-piracy protection on the HD Loader disc to prevent it from working without being on a PRESSED original disc. What happens? It's quite simple... it loads to the main menu for most, and then (before you can play any game) it goes to a BLACK SCREEN due to the 'check' in the software to verify it's an original HD Loader disc.
So what use is the HD Loader image then? Absolutely NONE... until a crack/patch is available for it of course! Those with a PRESSED version of HD Loader will be pleased to know it does install legal PS2 game back-ups to the HDD though.
Some brief EARLY observations of the HD Loader tell us the following:
it displays as CRAZY_TAXI in IsoBuster... pressed by Datel/Success perhaps?
the SLUS_202.02 is considerably large in size (likely the brunt of the utility, unless Crazy Taxi's was this size also? *G*) and most of the other files on the disc appear to be useless at first glance anyway
the MAIN.IRX appears to be complete BS on the surface, but could contain MAGICGATE stuff explaining this- will be examined soon enough
the CD appears to be based on 'hidden' files (not TOC-based)... DVDRippers will understand this so we won't go into it here
it may contain a check similar to the Disc ID check that DNA$ utilizes... explaining why an original PRESSED HD Loader doesn't end up at a BLACK SCREEN when running like the image does- we'll know soon enough!
In conclusion, you should support www.Divineo.com and purchase the HD Loader- our sample arrives today so visitors can expect a complete review to follow soon here! For those more interested in cracking the image of it, we have included a filelist.txt as well as pics with the filesizes (for the newbies) attached below (click 'Read More' then 'Forum View' to access it)! LOTS more to come here soon, and be sure to post ALL related topics in the PS2 HDD Forum. Enjoy!
hes saying that if you want to rip a burned/downloaded game to the HDD you still need a modchip to circumvent SONY protection. it also wont work with the cheat devices unless you have a modchip. but the image of the HDD loader is already on the net, so whatever.

i wonder if the same works for import games.
Actually, I don't think that's what this is saying at all, unless you're basing this on something other than what marwan posted. I think what marwan posted is referring to an image of the HD Loader disc. I assume someone ripped the HD Loader disc, and someone was trying to find a way to use it without having to buy the kit from Diveneo. What marwan posted doesn't imply that you can't use a downloaded image of a PS2 game at all. In fact, I would bet they probably do work with the HD Loader.Quote:

you need a modchip to play downloaded/burned games because it install the game as-is. and burned/downloaded games dont have the security ring that modchips circumvent.
