It's true that eating sugar-based carbs will spike your insulin levels and make you retain fat, yes. Complex carbs, such as rice, veggies, potatoes and oatmeal are the way to go. Fruits are good too, since their sugar is natural and not processed.

so how come if you're diabetic eating potatoes is usually bad? my uncle has it and he has to seriously watch his potato intake. they told me the sugar amount in them is unreal.
Actually, potatoes aren't good either. And pasta(al dente or whatever it is called) is supposed to be better for you than rice.
A good guide for glycemic index:

EDIT: But I am VERY sceptical about the pizzahut supreme pizza thing there being only 35.
dole, as you remember i work gorcery, and you dont know the half of how many things are low carb now. the low carb gimmick has proven to be he biggest marketing sucess since the ps2, and its about as healthy to injest. Many people here are suggesting exercise, and i agree, in fact, even if your weight is normal, exercise is like adding ram to your computer, everything just runs smoother and more efficiently. The problem is, people will always look for an easy answer, its human nature, i dont really hold it against them, i do however have strong opinions on the media blitz on atkins and the idiot celebs that talk atkins up without even hinting that it is not healthy for everyone. Yes, doctors have responsably expressed concerns about atkins, but it gets buried under the hadlines about which vapid celeb has lost 30 pounds on atkins(which usually is code for diuretics and cocaine anyhow) it just seems that the press has fooled people who dont have time to do the research, and dont realise how bad what they are doing to themselves really is.
and diff, as sok pointed out already, it would be great if people were really watching what they ate, but they really have just substituted one unhealthy eating habit for another. and its not likely to pass on to healthier eating habits, since a lot of people buy into atkins based on the "eat good tasting foods" line, one that dosent exactly transition into eating your veggies and exercising regularly.
im sick of atkins and im sick of that gastric bypass shit. i had this lady i used to work with actually GAINING 50 pounds so her insurance would cover it as being "medically necessary". that is suck a fucking joke.
Dude, when I go into a supermarket there's so many "low carb" stickers and signs on the shelf that I can barely see the products.Quote:

I believe all of frostwolf ex's news.

Weight Loss through the Atkin's Diet is curing a symptom (obesity) but not the cause (cholesterol and inefficient cardiovascular systems).
Shitting fat.... is another story.
Dude, do you think your heart enjoys having to drag along all that extra poundage?
Is post combining not working anymore?
this sentence makes no sense. how is obesity a symptom of being overweight? obesity cannot be a symptom of something it is just another word for. :confused:Quote:
