Well. ESPN is ranking the Top 25 individual teams of the last 25 years. The list is for individual years, not collections (ie, the '96 Bulls NOT the '96-'98 Bulls).
So, what teams do you guys think are the best since 1979?
I'd just like to complain about the '91 Hurricanes getting the nod at #14 when they split the nat'l championship w/the unbeaten Washington Huskies. East Coast bias! East Coast bias! :curse:
I don't watch a whole lotta sports anymore but the NBA Dream Team of '92 had better be on that list along with the 1980 US Olympic Hockey Team.
They are. Dream Team around 20 and USA Hockey at 7, I think. Dream Team was utterly dominant but that was mostly b/c the competition wasn't up to par; that's gotta count against them. The same should be said for the two NCAA Women's basketball teams (UT and UConn) on the list, but no, PC wins. :rolleyes:Quote:

Im not sure the Dream Team can count. Because, well, for one thing, they assembled all these great players from other teams, everyone knew they were gonna be great, and it was the first one so everyone wanted to play. Plus the competition was a joke. Yea, a great team on paper, and in practice I suppose, but part of what makes a great team great is rising up to challenges when they arise. The Dream Team never got that because all their competition was shit.
You're kidding, right? Look I dont like Women's basketball that much either but there's no denying that both UT and UConn have been dominant. That UConn team beat an Oklahoma squad that was 32-3... yea they were no match for the Huskies but THATS WHY THE HUSKIES WERE SUCH A GREAT TEAM! Duh.Quote:

As for the Hurricanes splitting the championship with the Huskies, I dunno if thats a disqualifier, because as we all saw last year, the college bowl system is screwy. USC was an incredibly dominant team and I would actually consider putting them on the list (its a shame we'll never see what would've happened in a game with LSU).
how about the 01 Patriots? Huge cinderella season based on team work and great coaching. They'll be #1 in my mind till the sox win it all.
UConn and UT have been 1-2 for at least the last, what, 8 years? That should say something about the depth and breadth of competition in NCAA Women's basketball. UConn is a great team...in a league w/ZERO parity.Quote:
