You really should try to get a real job before college. It will help put things into perspective for you so you will work harder in school. Memories of shitty work will get you to work harder than a simple logical argument that you should be working hard.Quote:

It's sort of like going to business school and getting paid for it. I was lucky to get this job fresh out of college, with an English degree.
I'm a journalism student. I hope to someday write fiction, though I'd settle for being a journalist.
I just started a job at The Beacon Hill Pub as a bar-back/doorman. It isn't an easy job but the benefits include getting drunk for free and being able to hit on hot, intoxicated chicks while you work. Plus its less than a minute walk from my apartment.
I also work at a golf shop that my dad owns. Its pretty easy but I've been doing it for about 7 years so it gets repetitive.
During the school year I work at my school's media services department. I lend out electronic equipment to professors and help them out when they can't work the high-tech classrooms.
I worked as a paintball referee for a little while. That was the only other job i've ever had. Its not as fun as it sounds.
I am an Air Traffic Controller in the Air Force.
I really am trying to get a job. Jobs are really difficult to find in my town, but Im going to need a job in order to graduate :)Quote:

Right now I'm working at the Westin Hotel doing baking and pastries, also helping out on the line. I'm just getting some hotel experience, then I'm gonna move on to something else to learn more or move up in the company.
I'd like to compete one day also, but I need to train and learn more first.
I might see if I can get back into DJing once I move. Also working on building a lil studio at home to do music at night.
That's a really good point. From working at the same grocery store for about 2 years, I have concluded that thinking at school > manual labor for menial pay. I hear so many delusional kids my age that are like "OMG I want a jooooooob lol lol", but they're the ones that can't keep a job more than a month because "the manager was mean". Tough.Quote:
