I remember having to write lines and other stuff in school as a kid, but I don't think I would have gone and done what this kid apparently had no issues doing. And, had I been forced to, I would have made the teacher respond in kind when he apologized to me.

I would hate to think the beating that man would get from american 35+ year old black momma if something like that happenned in the US. A american mother would very likely kill a teacher for that.
Black momma? Why limit it to that tired stereotype? Very, very bad things would be happening if someone tried it on somebody I was related to.
Keep in mind that the crime here was sleeping in class, something that I seriously doubt anyone here is innocent of. Those damn after-lunch classes could take me out every time back in the day...

I give any teacher full permission to punish my child as they see fit. Eff that. Nobody's kid is an angel. Stop thinking your kid doesn't misbehave.
You're aware that we're talking about falling asleep in class, right? We aren't talking about being a little asshole, we're talking about nodding off. It's called perspective, and is a good thing to have.
