Wanted -dead or alive: The creep that stole my truck.

I wake up this morning to find that my crappy, 1988 Toyota truck has been stolen from my apartment complex. It's the only vehicle I own (besides a borrowed bicycle), and I am staggeringly poor.

A police report has been filed, so obviously if anyone finds it abandoned, or the police spot or pull someone over in it, it can be recovered. If some citizen (here's where you all can come in) spots it parked somewhere, I would beyond appreciative if you could call your local police department for me. If anyone spots it on the move, the police say you're allowed to use 911, and they'll get someone on it.

It was stolen in Oregon, but the chances of it appearing in any adjacent state are good. I've attached some pictures of it parked at my parent's house; the license plate is XSM 630.

I guess all I'm asking is for anyone in the area to keep an eye open for me.

Damn that sucks dude. Hope someone comes across it for ya but I dout it'll make it's way this far east.

My sister thought her brand new Golf was stolen when she went outside Saturday morning to find it (and every other car on the street) missing. Turns out it was illegally towed in order to make room on the street for the local gay-pride parade. And after 3 hours of my parents driving her around they found it parked at a supermarket.

That sucks man.

I'll keep an eye out...in Wisconsin. :/

Why the fuck someone would want to steal that, when there are plenty of more valuable cars around?

I wondered that myself. Cops say that mid-80's Hondas and Toyotas are probably the most stolen vehicles, due mostly to their inconspicuousness, and the ease to steal them. I know my particular truck is supposed to be particularly easy to break into, though I don't know if they mean through the window, or a filed down key or what.

Incidentally, the officer I spoke with said the "Club" is really the best deterrent against car thefts; if I get it back, guess I'll buy one.

Master keys for Toyotas are mind numblingly easy to come by. If the car doesn't have an igintion kill or a transponder key any schmuck with the right master key can drive right off.


$20 says it was stolen for a drug run or other crime such as a robbery. It could turn up adandoned somewhere, hopefully intact.

You can break into that model fairly easily. All it takes is a screwdriver to push the door keyhole in a bit, then down, and the door opens.

Cops usually look for broken back windows as signs of a stolen car, seems most theives tap the window (or throw) with a broken piece of a sparkplug and the window shatters with little or no sound.

I had an 89 Toyota pickup and that thing ran forever. Great trucks. Just have to do some after market mods to make it less theft prone. Mine had a simple lock system where you could not start the car if you did not pull back on the Brights switch. You can probably get those magnetic dash lock key switch things now.

I don't why the pics are changed to some nudie gal, but to update this thread, almost a year later, the police finally find my vehicle.

I'm still in the process of getting new plates and sanitizing the thing (it was clearly stolen by druggies, needles in the glovebox and all), but it still runs fine seemingly. Probably need to have a mechanic look at to make sure things are still in order. I'm glad though overall.

Well that's great news to hear, at least it didn't go up in a bonfire or anything.

Its a 80s 'yota pickup, as much as I don't care for Japanese makes, those things run for-freaking ever. Nothing short of a salt water bath or a fire will hurt it.


Be VERY VERY freaking careful cleaning though, needles can end up in all the nooks and crannies and it would really suck if you get stuck with one.

Top Gear drowned one in the ocean and then lit it on fire and it still worked, so there goes your theory :P. Then they put it on top of a building that was being imploded and it still worked. Then i don't think they could think of anything else to do with it so they let it "retire".

I have videoclips of that someplace.
