King Arthur - Official thread

Oh well, I was hoping for the hard R rating that was promised when the shoot started, but I guess the success of Pirates of the Carribean, made thirst for PG13 profit more important, so here goes my hope for bloody and brutal battles between Arthur and his knights against Saxon hordes.

I might try to catch it while it still in the theaters, but probably will end up watching on dvd later this year.

Anyway, here is usual Ebert's review. Solid 3 stars.

Normally with the PG 13 i'd wait for opinions before going, but with Ron Burgundy coming out this weekend i might just get this one out of the way tonight. Is it me or is this just an incredible year for movies? I don't ever remember having so many interesting new releases to see. I hardly used to go to the movies at all.

If I go see this movie, it'll be for one reason only.

The chick in it is hot.

Of couse, you could say that about any movie these days.

I dunno, the movie looks kind of stupid. I'll pass on this one.

the movie SUCKED 4/10

-the acting sucked
-everyone had a different accent (one person even sounds like a cowboy)
-Lancelot is a flaming homosexual
-there aren't enough extras. it seems like 400 people live on the whole damn island of England. "armies" seem to consist of about 40 people (Arthur must be thankful, he only has 7 in his)
-the plot is thin, thin, thin. A bunch of stuff barely makes sense.
-it's winter and one army not only doesn't wear armor, they don't wear shirts. wtf?
-the fights are bad, shaky, quickly cut.
-Arthur can't handle a sword.
-the sets are small and look like foam
-merlin = ted kazynski
-nights of the roundd table = the beatles
-Kiera Knightly = flat :cry: (she's still hot, but they accent her worst (lack of) features)
-it's boring as fuck


It's one small step above movies like Timeline. Don't waste your money.

This movie looks really, really terrible. I would rather just see Spider-Man again.

Dodgeball and Around the World I understand, Van Helsing, Garfeild and Day After Tomorrow I don't. The thing about Ebert is that he explicitly details what he likes and what he didn't like about a movie, in gross, gratuitious detail. So his ratings have been lax as of late, but he backs up his reviews with more articulation than most, and people respect his opinion because of that.
