If it doesn't start with "War..War never changes." it isn't Fallout. Keep that in mind. Oh and to bring up something form years ago addressed in the thread; Arcanum was fantastic and anyone who thought otherwise either has 0 taste or is rampantly fronting.
Arcanum had major issues. You may have enjoyed it, but to just say it's fantastic and leave it at that is misleading at best.
Okay, let me elaborate; great setting (fantasy / steampunk had never been done successfully till Arcanum), a versatile system (no warrior, wizard, druid bullshit, you could make your character anything you wanted from a spell slinging gun-fighter to a mad-bomber), great story (characters, factions, etc. interacting and having relationships that break the overplayed fantasy mold).
There, a laundry list of what made Arcanum fucking awesome.
And not a single mention of any of its downfalls, which are behind its middling to bad reviews, and lukewarm consumer response. The good aspects you list haven't ever really been in contention.
First off, consumer response isn't any indication of a game's quality. As someone who buys f-chan games that barely sell a dozen copies I would think you'd know that intimately. Second, I've read the reviews and I find most of their criticisms either ill-founded or time sensitive. All of the game-killing bugs are long since gone, so if anything the game deserves a sweeping re-review. Arcanum now is not nearly the buggy mess it began, and a lot of people are missing out on a great title.
Arcanum also has a boneheaded system where you get experience for attacking enemies, not killing them.
Technologists also tend to be far weaker than mages, due to the far greater abundance of dropped magical items and the relative scarcity of technological items. Even when you do get your hands on some relatively nice firearms and other weapons, they tend to be weak and very expensive to keep using.
The first character I made was a technologist and he kicked ass, he had a rifle that could one-shot a helluva lot of stuff as well as shit like the spider bot to cover his ass. Then if all else failed he had an assortment of explosives to send a motherfucker's way.
Sure, playing the magic side was easier, but the tech side was ultimately more rewarding.
Will it be out on xbox360 as well?
Don't think anyone has said anything about platforms, yet. I'd be surprised if it didn't, though.
