Okay, best retail story ever, here.
Some guy just came into the store and was talking about Sprint phones. I explained everything to him and he was making some decisions, but decided to come back later. On his way out, he asks me if we carry a charger for "this phone."
He hands me one of those Nokia flippy-keyboard-thingy AT&T phones. The screen seemed kind of weird though. I look at it from one angle and the screen shows one image, but from another angle it shows a different image from another direction, like the keyboard is open. Kinda light, too... Wait a minute...
It's a dummy.
Sure enough, I turn it over and find a label, which says, "DUMMY PHONE. CANNOT BE ACTIVATED."
I tell him, "Sir, this phone isn't real."
He says, "Uh? Umm... okay."
He takes it and walks out.
This was an awesome thing to happen on my birthday. :) So... random.
My "asshole" bit is that I never take games out of the bags people put on the counter. I have no idea what's in there and I'm not sticking my hands in to find out, thanks. I just stand there, smiling politely with my hands behind my back, and tell them to just pop them out of the bag and I'll get right on it. On the rare occaision they don't I rip the bag in half like a clamshell on end.
Hmm... I also got snarky with someone who asked if Spiderman could kill people when I compared Spiderman 2 to GTA. I also can't for the life of me figure out why one or two people have thought that Spiderman should steal cars. He's Spiderman, dammit!
Believe it or not, I actually like my job. The insane people don't bother me much and the normal ones can be a lot of fun.

I got that so damn much. It was pretty sad and funny.Quote:

They may look like a bust on the surface due to most of their stock being GH and sports titles, but just check back frequently and you'll end up with some great finds.
Supply and demand IS what dictates it, though. You can try to explain it away and write off the simple laws which govern the function of our economy for the past 200 years but your explaining wont take it away. Its the truth, its the rules, deal with it. Dont hate the playa, hate the game.Quote:

Taking a basic economics course in college can open your eyes up to a number of fascinating truths.
There is no demand for a human turd, yet there is an endless supply, so you cant charge $45 for it.
Well, diff, obviously. But we've seen that independent stores offer used games at reasonable prices... this is mostly a complaint levelled at chain stores like EB or Gamestop.
Somebody justify a used game purchase at $36.99 when the new one is $39.99. I feel like an asshole asking the customer to consider it.
And yeah, this will continue as long as people put up with it. I'm just saying they shouldn't, that's all. Not the end of the world, just something that makes me go =/
