Really, there's pratices like this all over the world. It's just a means of controlling women. Another example is footbinding in Asia (which, thankfully, no longer exists). It's this pratice that created the stereotypical image of the hobbling little Chinese woman taking those tiny little steps.

Not really. They do exist, but they're not nearly as prevalent as populist articles on the subject suggest. They are an extremely small percentage of the gay population who ends up with AIDS, but because they're so insanely fucked-up, people who hear about it think it's a bigger problem than it is.Quote:
