Also, maybe it is just semantics, but it really is not racism that is the problem here. It is that people are making broad generalizations about a continent (does this even have a term). The truth is that there are civilized and more modern parts of Africa. The truth is also that a much greater portion of the continent lives in ignorance and fear. The women live lives filled with mutilation (this is more than just genitals Im refering too, and comparing what they do to the women there w/ circumcision by proffesional doctors in America is total bullshit) and rape. The peopel perform customs and rituals based on myths and rumors. They ignore their leaders and outsiders helping them because they have historically been so fucked over. Education is clearly the key to advancing any nation or people, but the majority of Africa seems hopelessly behind right now. You compared the plagues of Europe the aids epidemic. The difference between the two is a couple of hundred years. Yes, europe was once ignorant also. The difference is, we didnt have a solution out there somewhere. People continuely try and offer solution after solution to the Africans. It doesnt work, not because the methods do not work (condoms, abstaining, etc.) because Africans choose to ignore them. That is the disheartening thing.
