The Radio Shack Thread

Being that my paycheck is late from them AGAIN, I decided to start a thread about the store. They don't seem to be doing too well, CFO stepping down and stock plummeting and what have you. What's next? Who knows.
I was curious as to anybody here having any Radio Shack stories or comments. Why? If I said anything, I'd probably be sued. So, I choose to vent my frustration in other people's comments. So, if you have any, comment away.

Last time I went to Radio Shack, they were offensively expensive.

There are many better places to buy basically everything they offer.

I knew you'd do this sooner or later, Chao.

And RS can't be doing too bad, the one in Sunrise Mall just got a pretty spiffy makeover.

And Mzo, you're mostly right, except for cell phones. Unlike the Verizon stores, Radio Shack buys their cells in mass quantities, thus allowing you to get them super-cheap when you sign up for a simple 1 or 2 year plan.

well, it's true... their time has come and gone. They still feel it is the 1980s and that they are the only option to get their cheap merch. Now you can go to Circuit City, Best Buy, and a number of other stores to get the same product, or better, for a MUCH cheaper price.

There's a very good reason that nobody I know shops there and calls it the Shitshack.

They eat babies.

I hate Radio Shack for the sole reason they had the fucking nerve to ask your name, address and phone number when you bought something. They don't do that anymore, and even had an ad campaign highlighting they don't do it anymore!

Oh, and almost all the employees would get snippy if you wouldn't give them your info.

You actually could not purchase things from the Radio Shack in my home town if you didn't give them your name and telephone number. They had a big sign that said, "We have the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason."

Fine, I'll go get the same crap cheaper at Best Buy.
