I need to re-DL this one, for some reason I dont have this one in my comp. I do remember being impressed by that final fight scene - maybe I was just excited that we were finally seeing an animated Corps in action fighting together. The only specific thing that cracks me up that I remember is Flash dodging a bunch of lasers and shit, and then a pebble hits him in the noggin and knocks him out. :lol: , but yeah I'll follow suit and watch it again -

Flash owning Supes with that spin move was dope, and I liked the annoying machine-gun rock throwing thing before that. Surprises? Does every good fight need a surprise? I thought the episode itself threw enough surprises at us.I was surprised by how tough the evil-alternate Leaguers were fighting. GL's evil self flew out of the cell with a fucking vengeance - blade first with no
regard toward killing "himself".And Luthor saving the day wasnt a surprise? I did think it was lame the way Luthor made a weapon that negated EVERY Leaguers power but....

This whole fight from start to finish was excellent.Especially because you just knew the Evil Leaguers werent holding back.And they still got worked. And yeah, watching Supes and Doomsday going at it was cake.The final "shockwave" punch where they both grimace at each other then cut loose was great.
I look forward to the rematch you mention. Doomsday's going to want some payback - for having supes make him "Me am Doomsday" Bizarro levels of dumb.I'm curious to see how Superman is going to beat him without cutting loose like his evil version did.

Yeah, the fight in the warehouse was slick even though the JLA lost.By the time they were fighting at the football stadium though, you are right, the quality went down a bit - but I still thought what was there was good.
hehe, fireworks, huh? I guess they did. What better way to cap off and celebrate a hell of a show.

Speaking of hellaciously good shows, I just caught the latest episode of JLU with Canary and Green Arrow. Fireworks should've been going off at the end of this one too.
Great story, great characters who all felt real and had real emotion to them. You could feel the chemistry between Arrow and Canary, and could even feel bad for the aging Ted Grant, aka Wild Cat. Almost felt like he was being neglected like Booster Gold, and an episode like this just shows how much ass he can kick and how much he has to offer the team.
And speaking of fight scenes, you gotta admit their were some good ones in this :D
Episodes like this make me wish for a Green Arrow solo show. He's just too damn cool for words.

Caught the Black Canary episode, I just want to say that she's hot, hot, hot throughout the show. The sparring part was great, and a couple of her fight scenes were animated very smoothly (flickers of Cowboy Bebop levels of greatness). I wish they would do this for every single episode but I know that I wouldn't be able to be patient enough between eps.

Although it was a cool episode, the whole scene where Green Arrow thinks that Black Canary and Wild Cat were an item and his subsequent "forgiving" of her seemed a little artificial. That's okay, at least JLU is attempting to add more emotion to its characters than 98% of the cartoons out there.

Wouldnt you forgive a hot piece of ass like that? His reaction seemed normal to me though.Even though Ted was older, he had no way of knowing they werent an item until she told him otherwise which she did followed by him "forgiving" her.

I also liked the gas arrow trick he pulled on Canary. Very sneaky, and in character for Arrow, taking business in his own hands.

:sweat: Of course I would forgive her, but in terms of Green Arrow's buildup of mistrust for BC, it seemed artificial for him to completely trust her all of a sudden. He felt like he was being used for his money and being played like a harp, and I guess all it takes is for her to say she's not romantically involved with Ted for the tension to go away...

I also took it that this was the first time BC actually explained what was going on and why it was to be kept a secret from the League and so forth. So GA was happy to be let in on the secret. I agree with you though, the delivery needed some work.

Other than that... and maybe the over dramatic "death" of GA this episode was about perfect. One of my very favorites.

Next week features Mister Miracle, Big Barda and the return of the Flash after his season one noshow.

Mister Miracle

Mister Miracle first appeared in Mister Miracle Vol. 1 #1 (March-April 1971). Created by Jack Kirby as part of his Fourth World setting, Scott Free was the son of Highfather, the ruler of New Genesis. As part of a pact between New Genesis and Apokolips, Highfather and Darkseid sent each other their sons. Scott Free was raised by Granny Goodness to become a killer but met Metron and the scientist Himon, and learned enough to escape the planet and flee to Earth. There he met Thaddeus Brown, an escape artist calling himself "Mister Miracle." Scott learned everything Brown knew and when Brown was killed, put his experience to use both to take Brown's place and avenge his murder.

Scott Free became involved in the affairs of Apokolips and it was there he met his wife-to-be, Big Barda. She was a member of Darkseid's Elite Female Furies sent to Earth to recover Free, but they fell in love and were later married. Mister Miracle has since been a member of various incarnations of the Justice League and maintains a home in suburban America. He possesses superior physique due to his heritage as a New God, wields New Genesis technology such as flight discs, an omni-cube, & a Mother Box, and is a competent hand-to-hand fighter, but his primary ability as a superhero is the training that lets him bypass any lock, barrier, restraint, or security device. This is his first significant appearance in the WB animated universe.

Big Barda

Big Barda first appeared in Mister Miracle Vol. 1 #4 (Sept. 1971). Created by Jack Kirby as part of his Fourth World series, Barda was born on Apokolips and trained as a shocktrooper. Her prowess was such that she rose through the ranks and became a member of the Female Fury Battalion. She met Scott Free on Apokolips during a raid and was attracted to his free spirit. Later, when the Furies were sent to Earth to recover Free, she defected and remained with him on Earth. They were later married, and Barda has served with the Justice League on occasion. She has super-human strength and resilience, wears battle-armor, and wields the "Mega-Rod," fires energy blasts, opens teleportational "boom tubes," and allows her to fly.

In the WB animated universe, Barda first appeared 40 years in the future in Batman Beyond in the episode "The Call (1)". There it was revealed she was a member of the future Justice League and had abandoned her battle armor, although she still wields the Mega-Rod. Little was revealed of her background other then that she was related to Mister Miracle in some manner. This is her first appearance since then.

I always thought the Barda who appeared on the Batman Beyond episode was the daughter of Mr.Miracle and Big Barda.

Could be. Those things are just from tvtome.com and hardly official. I don't know anything about the pair so I couldn't comment. It's also unlikely we'll find out this ep anyway.

The Ties That Bind was decent. Mr. Miracle was somewhat bland which was compounded by the fact we never really got to see him at work. "Trade Secret" my behind. Barda was hot though and they made an interesting couple. Flash and J'ohn were probably the best parts being that they've lacked focus on JLU, and the conversation between Flash and Elongated man was funny.

Everything else had this strange mix of camp (the villian) and seriousness (Scott as a child getting whipped in the face). Didn't exactly flow well.

This Saturday is The Doomsday Sanction.

The Suicide Squad

The Suicide Squad was originally a special ops squad of soldiers in World War II (first appearance Brave & The Bold #25, 9/1959 - created by Robert Kanigher & Ross Andru). They had high casualties, considered expendable, and often fought among themselves. During the Korean War they were put under the command of Rick Flag Sr. and they fought against a wide of range of super-powered threats - their services required due to the relative lack of superheroes in the 50s.

Flag Sr. was killed in a mission and his son Rick was orphaned. Years later, Amanda Waller, working for the Reagan government, read about the original Squad and put together a new group (Suicide Squad Vol. 1 #1 - 5/87 - created by John Ostrander and Luke McConnell). Rick Flag Jr. led the team, which consisted of a combination of "damaged" superheroes (typically with psychological problems) and villains who were offered a pardon in return for their services. Stationed out of Belle Reve Penitentery in Louisiana, the Squad went on a number of missions until Waller abused her position and used the Squad on a personal mission. As a result, she was tried and sentenced, but after a year got a pardon of her own and reformed the Squad as a "million dollars a mission" private mercenary squad. That group eventually disbanded as well.

From the previews it looks like Deadshot, Captain Boomerang and Plastique are making an appearance.

Doomsday

Doomsday first appeared in Superman: The Man of Steel #17 and was presumably created for the purposes of killing Superman in the comics. Created by Kryptonian scientists before the destruction of their planet, he eventually made his way to Earth and "killed" Superman. He has been seemingly destroyed again and again, but has the ability to evolve to meet and defeat any threat.

In the animated universe he fought and was labotomized by the Justice Lord's Superman. The real League has never faced him.

It was alright. Kind of cool seeing an episode focused on and with Mr. Miracle in it. I agree on the "Trade Secret" bullshit. I would've liked to have seen how he got out of some of those tight spots, but I guess we are supposed to assume that he has some serious New Gods "tech" that gets him out of it, either that or some hidden power.That and he couldnt really do much else except fly around on those little discs and look cool doing it.
Big "Bertha" ( :lol: ) on the other hand was a bad bitch. I liked the auto-battle suit that forms up around her before a fight.
The League should use some of these New Gods more often in their roster.And, We havent seen Orion in a while, what the hell happened to him?

I would've liked to have seen how Flash got the three of them out of the explosion too.I know they Boom Tubed eventually, but I thought they couldnt do that in the Pits? I know Flash didnt carry them out of there......

Speaking of Flash, I was hoping we'd get an explanation of wheres he's been this whole time. Not just " Oh ,they put me on the back-burner because of my attitude", lines. I doubt the League would sideline him for such a dumb reason.
I'll bet it has more to do with the availability of Michael Rosenbaum (voice of Flash, aka Lex Luthor from Smallville).
