Anyhoo, the reason for the fitness-minded Gay community is this:
When there was the big AIDS scare (when people started hearing about it), many Gay men devoted more and more energy to making themselves look as healthy as possible to dispell any chance people would think they had AIDS or were HIV positive.
I'm sure this is no longer the reasoning, but that is the commonly held belief of why, out of seemingly nowhere, many gay men hit the gym with a ferver.
The other factors named contribute heavily as well I'm sure...
Actually, that still is the main reason among the older gay men out there.
Coincidentally I just got done listening to a comedian (on last comic standing) comment on how buff gay guys are. WIth that in mind, I completely discredit this as an insult to gays, though perhapts it "could" be to women. Feminists anyways.
The kind of people that find this shit offensive should go and start their own country so we can declare war on the son of a bitch. The politically correct enviorment in this country is ridiculous and stupid. Political lobbyists just look for shit to persecute people with they don't agree with politically, I'm sure a good deal of the "offensive" stuff doesn't offend anyone.
