No, they aren't out in normal stores yet. Best Buy still carries the older ones, I was there today.

As for ripping, just use iTunes. It's good quality (you can toggle it I think) and it'll do your library automatically. It's the simplest and more effective companion for the iPod (the iPod was designed to go with iTunes, afterall).

Ok, so how exactly do I do it in itunes? I click on import and then click on the cd but nothing comes up.

After you click import, then you click that button again (I forgot what it changes to, like a nuclear symbol or something), then it does it automatically and puts the files in your playlist.

Hmm cant figure it out right now, but thats ok, the way im doing it sounds fine. Sorry to be asking so many questions, but once all the tracks are uploaded onto the ipod, how is it all organized? Is it just by artist, or are tracks from cds put in the right order and under the cd name?

Umm... I believe there are different submenus, like one is filed by artist and one is by album name, etc.

Broke down and bought one today.

Before you import your music (or after, I guess) put in the artist name and album, or music genre if you like. the iPod can categorize and search by all those fields. The playlists you have created in iTunes show up on the iPod as well. It's a pretty good interface.

Man I want one of them so bad right now. I'm already putting my cds on itunes and I dont even know if I'll be getting one any time soon.

DarkCrow, you dont need an iPod to use iTunes. Its an excellent music player, in fact its my primary one. Replaced Winamp and all.

I know this, but I really don't have a need for a music player (although now that I will have all my cds on it, I might as well use it). I primarily am doing it so when I do get my ipod, whenever that may be, I will have most, if not all, the songs ready to put on it.
