This reminds me a lot of Brock Lesnar.
Some people have no clue.
I still can't REALLY understand why he quit (quitting something that you've put your entire life into and will only have a few more years of doing it?), but I respect this decision fully.
I know you like to think you know stuff because you read a book on it once, but you have no idea what things like panic disorder can do to you. It is AMAZING that someone with such a thing can be so great, from a physical perspective. The amount of effort you have to put in is incredible. But see, unlike you, I don't need to solely read a book as I have to actually deal with it.
I agree with diff on the fact that Williams is quiting on this team. Had he said at the end of the year last season ok i'm retiring, find someone else to do my job, I could have looked at it and said alright, man is a nut but at least he had some class and warned the team that it was gonna happen. That would have allowed the Dolphins to draft someone or sign a free agent back. Hell, had he even had the class to tell them a WEEK ago they could have signed Eddie George or Antowain Smith. Instead he waits until a week before training camp when all the major free agent backs have been signed to tell the team that he's retiring. The Dolphins have the right to sue and I would totally be callin my lawyers right now if i were them.
And wow do the Saint's look like genius's now for drafting Duece and trading Williams quitting ass.

"When the Dolphins acquired Williams in a trade from the Saints, they did pick up the contract and the right to sue him if he quits early. The Saints gave him an initial signing bonus of $8.843 million, and even though the Dolphins didn't have to pay the Saints for a portion of the bonus, they do have the ability to sue for him to fulfill the contract.
If successful, the Dolphins would get a $3.3 million repayment for failure to perform. Williams is signed through 2006 and would owe the Dolphins three years."
I got that from John Clayton's story on ESPN, so that's why I said they had the right to sue. If he's wrong, then I'm wrong. But he's still a classless prick who quit on his team.
But they'd like to, and would if they could. He can and he did. Why should he make decisions like he was living somebody else's life?Quote:

Athlete worship in the US is at such a ridiculous level that people can stand up and cheer when a guy like this quits out for these ridiculous reasons. I wouldnt say its anger or jealousy, as Im going to do fine in my life, but it is... puzzlement. Just how much people worship athletes and kiss their ass... its bizarre.
I won't deny the Dolphins are screwed, but come on - Eddie George or Antowain Smith would hardly have saved their season. Heck, I think I might rather have Travis Minor than George these days. As far as the timing goes, if now is when he decided, then now is when he decided. Arguing about how you think he should have felt 6 months ago is irrelevant. Keep in mind this guy isn't in a normal emotional headspace - he has to deal with things in his life that you don't. It's a small miracle he made it as far as he did. If it's not what he wants to do, nobody has the right to tell him otherwise. He's not a heart surgeon, he's a guy who runs around with a ball and tries not to get knocked over for a living.Quote:

The reason teams give large bonuses is because it is automatically pro-rated over the length of the contract as far as the cap goes. The player still gets the money up front. Explain to me again how this classless pussy was doing anyone a favor.Quote:

I can't imagine sacrificing your health for a few yards over and over is fun...
This is what I'm thinking. I only wish I could go out and travel asis or somesuch right now.Quote:
