I guess it depends on when you found out. Personally, I think Shyamalan meant for the creatures to be blatantly fake once you saw them. But if you go through the whole film thinking they are real and don't get what Walker is saying when he tells Ivy "try not to scream," then I guess the above-mentioned emotion is waranted.

I thought they were fake at that point but I was hoping that he had a corpse in there. That just would have made the whole thing worthwhile.

At one point during the movie my buddy leaned over and whispered to me "I think we got tricked into seeing a chick flick" which was right on. This was, above all else, a love story about Ivy & Lucious. And love stories arn't my cup of tea.

One thing that REALLY bothered me about the flick was the sexual tension between William Hurt (Walker) and Sigourney Weaver (Mrs. Hunt). That was a love story that was so disposable. Night should have just cut all those scenes between the two of them and hell, just recast Sigourney's role.

She was really wasted in this film and I'd say the role was beneath her but by the look of things lately it seems like she's just making movies because, like the Checker's commercial says "You gotta eat." :\

I was at the biggest theater here in Columbus (holds just shy of 500 people, I think) and it was sold out. We had a ton of people laughing at odd (unintentionally funny) parts of the flick.

I used to rag on Columbus so much dude. But after driving across the country and seeing whats out there, I fucking love this city. It may not be as cool as the big ones (NY, LA, etc.) but it blows away just about every city I passed through. We have fucking everything here and very little heavy traffic (& the best highway system ever).

Yeah, I saw it tonight and I am pretty ambivalent about it. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't great either. 2/4 I guess, but if I had to pick a clear cut thumbs up or down, I'd go with down.

I felt the same way, because M. Night thinks he's O'Henry and has to toss a twist at the end of his films I pretty much knew that I was in for something wacky at the end, so I called the ending really early on, which sucked.

One of the big problems with this movie is that you never really cared about any of the characters at all, whether they lived or died, it never really mattered to me. Not to mention that this movie wasn't scary in the slightest. People kept screaming in my theatre, and I had no idea why. Also, I didn't like the way they edited this movie, with abrupt transitions from scene to scene. That sort of thing bugs me, the last movie I saw that did this crap were the Lord of the Rings. And I was dissapointed in how they marketed this, I did not see the same movie that they told me I was going to be seeing.

And in an unrelated note. I'm so fucking sick of my local theatre and their shitty quality screens. When you see the commercials for this, or the trailers on the internet all the colors are bright and vibrant, but when you go to the theatre the screen is fuzzy and the colors are muted. I might as well stay at home and watch a clear quality dvd. We need to ditch film reels and move onto to digital projection methods.

I thought I was the only one who thought movies looked better on DVD than the theater. I go to a Muvico theater down in miami, state of the art, and 9 out of ten times the picture looks like sh#%

Also, does it bug anyone else that the screen is usually smaller than the projection, so the sides/top/bottom always get cut off? :yuck:

This movie was extremely disappointing.

It's not like I "called" the ending... more that partway through the movie I thought to myself "Man it'd be a shitty twist if the "creatures" ended up being modern people".

And I was almost right, and very disappointed. I was expecting a far more creative twist (why i was expecting this, I don't know, as Unbreakable and Signs' twists were complete shite) As said before, Direction was good. Dialogue/Characters terrible.
