Teaching English in Korea

Obviously there are hidden things they aren't telling people about these jobs.
So what do you think they are, do you know anyone who's had them? What did they do, did they like it?

You'd be pretty lonely, but still it's interesting.

Great pay, but it looks fishy.

Umm there's nothing really hidden about it. It's a pretty solid thing. You just go there, work as a teacher's assistant, and get your monies.

Of course, they dont tell you that South Korea hates America and that teaching English in Asia is pretty much the lowest thing one can do, but hey, those are the breaks.

The big question is, though, how would you work on Bolt 3 while you are there?

Oh this isn't something I want to do right now, it just interests me as something I could possibly do in the future.

That's a pretty ignorant thing to say. As someone who taught English in a small town in Japan for a year, and got a lot out of it, I take offense to saying teaching English in Asia is the "lowest thing one can do". I worked hard, made a good salary, taught children another language, got more fluent in Japanese, experienced a wonderful culture, and made some very good friends. I don't know about teaching English in Korea, but for you to generalise all of "Asia" in such a way and debase a job you obviously know little about (and I'd bet you are unqualified for--you need a BA or BS degree from a 4-year University to even be considered) is ignorant and offensive.

I've talked to many, many, many people who have done it (since I am considering it, I DO STUDY JAPANESE DUR DUR) and they say that a lot of people don't care very much for all the Americans walking around in Japan teaching English. Maybe in a small town its different, I dont know, but Japanese are a LOT warmer to Americans than Koreans. Maybe you're the ignorant one, for lumping Korea into Japan.

You lumped Japan (and every other Asian country) in with Korea when you made a generalising comment involving "Asia" within the context of Korea. Japan is in Asia. Check a map if you don't believe me.
