So does Click_Stick post here anymore or what? I saw this topic come up at GAF yesterday but I hesitated to post it here since I figured he'd just come in and give mention.
Hm, how do you mean? 3 GW games, 3 different hardware platforms so far...Quote:

Just give me a copy of Treasures Ikaruga and I'll be happy :D
Write posts that are relevant to the thread topics and we'll be happy :D
Otherwise, shut the fuck up. :)
A home port is in order. :)
A PC version at least would be fairly likely, I'd hope.
Taito made the board specificly to ease the pain of home conversion, so I'd say one is more than likely.
Hard to tell wth the low res of the scan, but the ship designs seems really amateur to me. Still looks like it keeps the same formula going, though, so I'm sure I'll like it a lot.
It's better than nothing.
No arcade release dates for this yet? I'm a fairly large GW fan.
Nope...and we just missed the loke test at...none other than Taito Inn Game World in Shinjuku.Quote:

DEL at the Shmups forum has just said that you can Point Blank enemies for a million points a shot. If your multiplier is 4,234,149 for example- just imagine 4,234,149,000,000 for one kill. That's how I can see scores over 100 Quintillion being possible.
Looks like the crazy scores have taken another step up. :D
Giga Wing Generations is coming to the PS2. Taito is readying this version for March 24. :D The RP is 6,090 Yen (probably means $55-60 on import).
LINK.
Those volcanoes made up a large part of why GW2 was special. Then they took them out for this game. So I'm betting this game will fit somewhere between the first and second game.Quote:

Both NCSX and Play-Asia are currently accepting preorders. I just got mine in a couple minutes ago.
I'm crossing my fingers for XS to publish this here. Well, any publisher, I don't care as long as they keep tate mode in.
If they kept Tate mode in Castle Shikigami 2, I bet they'd leave GWG intact if they got a hold of it.Quote:

I got my copy of GWG for the PS2 this Friday. I hate to piss in the punch bowl, but there is NO TATE in this. This means you end up with a 360 x 480 play area in the center of the screen, down from 480x640- a bit ghetto if you ask me, as you lose some of the arcade's detail. What's the deal, Taito?
The load times are a little annoying. You will wait a half-minute to get to the title screen. Between levels, it's about 15 seconds.
On the bright side- Forget what you heard about the arcade version being choppy in places. GWG PS2 runs smooth, but you will get a little slowdown in the spots where the arcade version would suffer from the jerks.
The difficulty is about a bit short of the first GW. With full defaults I've been able to hit stage 5 on the first credit after having the game for only a day.
So Steve, there's actually no framerate issue with the PS2 disc (as some are saying)?
Those load times are terrible though.
There's no framerate issue because it runs at 30FPS, unlike the arcade version which was 60FPS. I haven't bought it myself, but I've read up on it and haven't heard anything good about it.
There are huge frame rate problems with this game, Its struggles to display 30 frames per second properly.
Here comes Kron with his secondhand misinformation (or have you played it since stating incorrectly that it was cropped?).
I recieved the game on Saturday thank you very much, And what did I say that was incorrect?
"stating incorrectly that it was cropped"
With that and the fact no one has mentioned a "huge framerate problem."Quote:
It shows a complete view of the playfield horizontally but in essence you are only seeing around 60% of the vertical aspect.

So, how are you liking the scoring system? I'm guessing it plays most like the first game, right?
It feels like an extension of the first Gigawing in alot of respects but at the same time is a huge step backwards, The character of the series and direction in this one is missing and the game has an overly generic feel and doesn't have that instant appeal that arcade games need.
I was initially told it feels like an unfinished game and after giving it a few hours yesterday its an apt description.
This does not sound the least bit positive. Color me less than enthused now. Boo :(
As I understand, the arcade version is really bad on framerate at times. There is a framerate issue which I am able to take- a 30 FPS frame limit which was put in to avoid the major jags that Type-X has (though Type-X is upgradable). To dump the Radeon and put in the X800XT and the Pentium 4 may make it run better on the Type-X (Celeron doesn't compare). If there's a PC version later on I may nab it.Quote:

Challenge does start to pick up a bit around stage 4. Targets that are shot will flake off some small medals when they are damaged. There's a fairly huge time bonus when bosses go down, so you may not want to milk like you do in the first one- just keep shooting the boss between uses of RF and grab the flake-off medals with all the others. Killing a boss makes all onscreen enemy fire turn into medals ala Dodonpachi. Unfortunately the final part of the boss explosion is ghetto looking.
By the way- you better stay away from the original mode and stick to arcade. Original does seem to be less smooth and you'll notice bad bullet flicker.
