You had some good points there, I even forgot about the Spain attack (I've become a little spaced out since Parris Island), but all the stuff that's happening right now is nothing new (suicide bombings, abductions, etc.) and doesn't take much resources and leadership to pull off. Terrorists have been causing havoc with oil infrastructure for a damn long time. The Saudi government employs mercenaries to patrol the pipelines to stop people trying to damage or destroy them, my grandfather was offered a mercenary position in 1964 to go to Saudi Arabia for this exact same job. The terrorists now are fighting more of a military fight rather then large scale, hard hitting attacks (besides some of the attacks in Europe which have also been going on for many many years) and if needed we can fight a war of attrition because for everyone of our soldiers there's probably anywhere from 100-500 of their fighters. The terrorists have bad funding, bad equipment, and most of all the majority of them have either extremely poor or no training at all. It doesn't take training or brains to blow yourself up or shoot holes in oil pipes, it does take training and brains to mastermind a large scale attack.

The Viet Cong seemed to manage just fine, despite having all those things you mentioned and fighting a war of attrition with the U.S. Armed Forces. The days of throwing bodies at a fight until one side runs out is long behind us (or atleast it should be). We have to find a better way to help these countries without destroying them and then trying to police the rubble. Our military is not a police force, yet they're being used as such in both Iraq and Afghanistan. We need a change of tactics, we need to admit our mistakes and learn from them, instead of simply repeating them in the vain hopes that we do better the next time.

I couldn't stomach the O'Reilly/Moore interview, but it was about time Moore showed up. Now if he'd only go on Larry Elder's radio show...

Exactly. I love reading Canadians' opinions on American politics too. Canada is essentially a socialist nation that would grind itself into a series of bread lines if it didn't have the giant host organism to the south from which to feed. If you are so good at solving the world's problems, start by creating an autonomous economy in your own country. Of course, that's not possible once you make huge mistakes like socializing medicine.

Do you honeslty believe there's nobody left in the middle east who doesn't know how to fly a plane into a building or leave a suitcase in a train station, though? The longer this goes on for, the more innocent people get caught in the middle, and when they take up sides it most likely won't be yours. I'm not saying to abandon Iraq or let them off the hook, but I'm not sure a "war on terror" as a policy is feasible or even productive. Treat them like the common criminals they are, rather than blowing them up into a political and religious cause capable of scaring the largest superpower on earth; that only makes them more attractive to the disenfranchised.

People didn't hate America like they do now before Bush. Nobody objected to Somalia or Kosovo or Afghanistan or the first gulf war. But when you engage in a war that's against international law, lie to the world community and undermine the UN in what seems to most of the planet a blatant attempt to open Iraqi oil reserves to your country to ensure future economic competitiveness, people aren't being unreasonable by getting their back up.

Almost nobody on Earth but US republicans believes the Iraq war was heroic. Whether you agree with them or not, shouldn't that at least give you pause for thought?

Keep in mind that Canada is your country's largest trading partner as well. Without us, your economy would shrink by nearly half overnight. And where would America be without China and Mexico for cheap labour? Or the Saudis for oil?

There are plenty of countries that have socialized medicine who don't live next door to America, or even have my country's population or natural resources.

Liberal thinking is what your country was founded upon. Seperation of church & state, equality of man, free speech, your constitution reads like a list of classical English liberal beliefs. Read Jefferson's autobiography sometime.

Contrary to ignorant belief, liberalism does not have a corner on the new idea market. Rather, in today's world, liberals typically just don't want anyone telling them anything they have to do. They have gone from freedom fighters to anarchists, and there is a world of difference.

Ill just say something not related to the war in Iraq: Look at the guy who Liberals picked to run for President. A guy with no ideas on anything except that he fought in Vietnam. Liberals today dont have any ideas, any platforms. Theyre just reactionary. They want to do what the other guy doesnt. Like Yoshi said, they are so obviously not the liberals of 200 years ago it doesnt make sense to even bring it up.

Look at the guy who the Conservatives picked to run for President: an empty suit with no convictions or independent thought who will do whatever his advisors tell him to do.

Why do you say he has no ideas? Regaining the respect of the international community and rebuilding severed foreign ties. Increased healthcare funding. Not having your national daycare provided by churches. Getting your economy out if its gigantic deficit by not funding misguided wars. A national spending cap, middle class tax cuts. Tax incentives for alternate fuel research and reducing dependence on mideast oil. Increased educational funding. Restoring your clean air act.

And most importantly, having a guy in charge of the world's largest nuclear arsenal who has some kind of clue about geopolitics and doesn't do things like go to Europe and say that the problem with the french is that they have no word for entrepreneur.

Polls show your president is currently more despised internationally than either Hussein or Bin Laden - that takes some serious skills. Diplomatic solutions to anything will be difficult to impossible with him in charge. He's lied to you, and everyone else, repeatedly. He's threatened countries that didn't want to go along with his ideas, including mine. He's dumped your economy in the toilet, made it unsafe for Americans to travel abroad or even have a proper olympic team, and instituted a culture of perpetual national paranoia.

I don't get what Kerry could possibly do that's worse than that.
