I'm not sure why everyone is riding this game's proboscis. It's not like we get action sidescrollers every day, no, but even so this isn't a particularly good one. It's a 30 fps (ugh) Metal Slug rip-off with a wacky graphic style and very rough, unpolished action.
Neo Contra destroys it in every way (except, unfortunately, price). Heck, Shattered Soldier does too. At least they have the fundamentals of control, enemy patterns, pacing and presentation down. Alien Hominid is a game whose creators have copied the gameplay conventions of action platformers without really thinking about what makes an action platformer good. There's little depth and less polish.
I'm glad those who enjoy it do, but it rankles me to see it praised so much when it's so undeserving. ^_^;
It stands out more to me in it's style than anything else. SS had great gameplay, but the style was cookie cutter.
Besides, a company without a name behind them putting out a 2-D run n' gun these days? it deserves praise.
Wait, you mean to tell me Alien Hominid is a boring game, extremely easy, has a very limited color palette, and is generally an uninspired entry into a series that barely retains it's legacy?Quote:

I've only gone through 3 levels of AH, and so far it's better than Neo Contra as a whole. When it comes to run and guns, too easy isn't fun or well made at all.
AH is a moderate difficulty so far, but I'm going to turn the difficulty all the way up pretty soon. And the fucking Pudding Monster was hysterical. Alot better than Dog Contra or Plant Contra :rolleyes:
And to everyone else that has the game. Go to options ---> Hats and you can outfit the AH with a different hat to wear all the time. Lots of ???"s, but no clue how to unlock them =/
I don't understand how you can call any game lacking, and then proceed to call Neo Contra well made and fun.Quote:

And oh, that section with the wood chipper and the UFO is a nice little tribute to one of Newground's original games =D
Shit, you just owned me. FUCK! :noob:Quote:
