Anything can knock off Metal Slug as long as it gets the gameplay right, and this did. That's great that it's coming to the Xbox and Cube as well. Really great.

So when they say it is coming to PS2, Xbox, & GC, have they already got licensing/permission from Sony, Microsoft etc.? Or are they developing them with hopes of putting them out? Seems like SCEA wouldn't be too hot on this title.

I think the Flash version might not be the best way to judge games, but it has awful control and color contrast, somethig which MS doesn't suffer from. A larger screen might help with the second part.

I was thinking the same thing, about Sony. I'm guessing that's why they haven't officially announced what systems it's coming out for yet, although they do have versions for all 3 systems up and running. I couldn't see Microsoft or Nintendo having any problems with the game, Sony on the other hand...

It's nice to see, in this day and age, that little indie-games like this one can get industry-wide recognition and possibly published on all three consoles without the backing of an EA/Midway type company.

These guys definitely deserve a cookie.

(BTW, that Flash game is f-in INSANE. Those feds just keep coming!)

I've been playing the Flash game for forever, complete with a couple months where I would go on everyday to rate it a 5, in hopes that more would see it. The fact that this is coming to a console is an answer to a hope of mine since I first played it, and I will buy it right away no matter what the price because I need to support things like this!

I think the 2D graphical style will really ALIENATE the potential clientelle. I personally think the graphical style has it's PHASERS SET TO STUNNING.

I've played this multiple times on newgrounds.com, and I'm definitely looking forward to this being released on the home consoles.

I'll probably do the GC version, since it'l probably be rarer of the three systems.

There's a section of the Alien Hominid website that will address this concern. Basically, the game has been completely redrawn, recoded, and about a kajillion things have been added. Not to mention made much, much longer.

Yep, This game is just for Gamecube and Ps2, no Xbox.

Probably would sell horribly on Xbox tho. It IS a side scrolling, 2D highly animated work of art, so naturally MOST Xbox owners would ignore it to go play another FPS. Sigh.. X-P

Yes, it certainly will sell well on PS2, where THE AWESOME 2D GAMES THE ONLY PURE FORM OF ENTERTAINMENT EVER UNTAINTED BY THE EVILS OF 3D are plentiful and sell oh-so-well. Not like on Xbox, where games like MS3, KOF2k2/2k3, CvS2, MvC2, SvC Chaos, GGX2#R, Third Strike, and HSF2T would never, EVER come out.

I think Guilty Gear X2 # might be profitable, but I don't think Metal SLug 3 did well at all. I don't know a single other person that bought it, and from what I know the Gamestops in my area recieved and sold just about next to none of them.

I swear you guys live in a foreign country sometimes, I know that though we didn't exactly set the sales charts afire with Metal Slug 3 we certainly moved a respectable number. Then I hear that everywhere else the game just languished on the shelves and I have to wonder what's going on. Maybe it's something in the water? I just know that I keep hearing "Title X bombed horribly" only to be left wondering how that happened after it did, if not amazingly, at least well enough where I work.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to Alien Hominid. I'm going to have to let it wait a while rather than get it day 1, I think my game budget will be 100% busted by mid-October except for my leftover GTA cash, but it's definitely a post-Christmas title for me. Or pre-Christmas, overtime willing.

In my area, Metal Slug 3 sold out in a day in every store, and when they restocked, it sold out again.... it's doing ridiculously well and i wasn't able to get a hold of it until about 3 weeks ago. As for Guilty Gear, it's only been a week, and I see more and more people playing on Live, so I'm sure it's doing pretty well.

2D games sell pretty fucking well on Xbox and there's a good chance that they sell better than the ones on PS2. My prediction is that SFAC Xbox will outsell the Ps2 version. And then we will know once and for all that the Xbox gamers are the ones with taste.

Still not definite ;) I'd feel better after seeing a offical news article announcing the Xbox version. Retailers also said the DS was $200 (it is $150) and IGN lists (or at least listed) Metal Slug 3 USA version for PS2 waayy after it was cancelled X-P

I was going to get this on Gamecube simply because I refuse to get anything multiplatform on the Ps2....but now it looks like I can get it for Xbox just like everything else.

If there are no differences what so ever, I'll just by it on the system its available on when I feel like buying it. If thats when the Xbox is version is out I might buy it on that one, but by march the game could teh super cheap for the Cube.

If you are anxiously awaiting this game and you have 1 of the 2 systems it will be on first, get it for one of those. It makes no sense to wait for the XBOX port because it looks to me that all 3 will be able to manhandle this game. It doesn't look like it will tax any of them power wise.

The only thing I want is a button configuration so we don't have the abortion that was MegaMan Anniversary Collection.
