Goddammit Sega :bang:
I was looking foward to this, too. Oh well.
Man, talk about lazy.Quote:

Why even bother if it's going to be like this, and full of slowdown?
This looks far, far worse than the MK ports.
It looks like Sega shit out VF 1 models and painted VF 2 textures on them, ouch.
I tried making another post-release thread, but this one got updated a I did- it's tough getting used to this "forum" thing again...
I recieved this in the mail yesterday, and spent a few hours playing it. I haven't played (or even seen) the arcade version in a few years, so I don't have a crystal clear memory.
It appears to be mostly like the arcade version, with the possibility of some background textures being washed out (I don't remember them looking so grainy). There is an occasional polygon hiccup- mostly with the arena floor flickering during win poses (this happens very rarely). Also, there is a very slight amount of framerate chugging on Shun's stage when the raft passes under a bridge.
The sound FX is a slightly muffled and drowned out. I forgot to check, but I believe that the remixed Saturn soundtrack is selectable.
The gameplay seems to be pretty much unchanged, and feels uber-slow after all these years (and VF4). The PS2 pad still sucks for this type of game, but played perfectly with both my MAS and X-Arcade sticks.
oh well, another Bittorent download .....unless sega fixes it up for the U.S release!(if there is a U.S release)
The only VF2 will come out here is if its on a compilation- and Sega/Conspiracy/Whoever is sure dragging their feet at getting the first Saga Ages compilation off the ground...
Instead of being ported, from what I hear, it's lazy Model 2 emulation. No, I refuse to marvel at the feat of Model 2 emulation like some VF enthusiasts have been demanding we do. There is no excuse for slowdown or anything less than an arcade perfect port. Seriously, people, we're beyond this. Sega is just completely lazy. At first this looked like a gift to their fans, as if they actually cared.
Yeah. There's not even a training mode, something that absolutely killed me in the Saturn version... and they couldn't even add it in. You know, a mode where you hit a dummy that doesn't die. Sounds like a lot of hard work.
Thanks, Sega. Really.
I'm sure that only fans of the series would have bought this title, so a training mode would'nt be necessary. Sucks that they could'nt do the port properly.Quote:
