Fan Service, SNK Style

That is a real nice move by SNK. I personally don't see why Capcom would have a reason to do anything like this, they did'nt have the same kind of situation as SNK does with the NEOGEO. I mean Capcom just ported their stuff to other systems, this was SNKS own machine. Only thing that I guess would come close is if capcom put one of these on their last CPS2/CPS3 games or something.

Its nice that SNK closed this chapter of their life this way, it closes the door with out leaving the fans wondering if its really the end.

More power to SNK, and I hope they don't have to print any notices like that again for a long, long time.

That was really good of SNK to do that. I still remember when they closed doors and offered that really cool wallpaper to their fans. I agree though, hopefully they won't have to deal this kind of fanservice again anytime soon.

Capcom tried to have something similar. It was the Capcom Power System, and it flopped big time. It basically looked like a CPS-2 motherboard but had the ability to be hooked to a TV. It had very few games made for it.

No, it never came out in the US, but I'm not sure where the name Red Earth surfaced from, maybe it was going to be called that before they decided against bringing it to the states...

Oh come on man, you gotta admit this is a nice gesture for Neo Geo fans.

Between SNK swapping hands a few times over the years, the whole Neo Geo Fre@K thing, and Shawn getting games released on a shoestring budget, a barely edited version of a rehashed game isn't that bad. Besides, it's still more "arcade perfect" than any other home version will be.

Within a year or 2, anyone will be able to pick up the MVS cart for like $35 if they really want to.

Never saw Sega thank it's fans in the USA after they yanked the DC from us. Or the Saturn for than matter.

Never saw Nintendo thank anyone for buying a Virtual Boy.

Never saw Atari thank anyone for buying a Jaguar.

For SNK to publicly thank it's fans, and do so in a manner that serves the collector fanbase, is top notch in my book.

"To all of our fans who have purchased NEOGEO ROM cartridges up until now, thank you very much. We couldn't of supported our coke habits and taste for underaged Thai whores had it not been for your willingness to spend thousands of dollars on shitty games."
