Half-Life 2 - official (9/14 Black Mesa Source?!)

Yeah, that was my one complaint. Everything is fun to kill except for the combine soldiers. Maybe I've just been spoiled by Halo-style AI, but I swear the commandos in HL1 were far more vicious and intelligent, though.

They do get better as you go along. They're bitches by Nova Prospekt.

i think they're just faster. and on the normal level, they take (and give) more damage before they drop than the generic combine soldiers.

i just restarted the game, and combine fights are more fun on hard. once you get to the soldiers (after ravenholm,) they'll quickly kill you if you're not careful. their AI doesn't change, but the damage given/received is upped. a lot.

in other news, i really miss the ninjas. it doesn't help that raising the bar details a similar character that was eventually cut from the game. it was a pretty stylish design too.

Didnt play at all Monday but got to put about an hour into it last night, beat the mines and now have the Dune Buggy.. if you tip the buggy those bugs are everywhere in a hurry.

Difficulty has stepped up abit from the earlier levels...

I kind of liked that. I prefer it (you get stuck and have to closely look at where you need to go/what you need to do. The answer is usually right there) over a whole lot of guessing trying to figure out where to go. Getting lost in a game like this is a complete killer for me. Reminds me of Prince of Persia. You see where you need to end up, the fun is observing the enviornment and understanding the game to get there.

I think a troop of girl ninjas are a bad idea in any game

So I beat the game this morning, and now I can join in the plot/ending discussions:

Really, nothing felt incomplete to me, rather it just feels as if this is meant to be an episodic series. This particular game tells the story of the City17 rebellion, just as Half Life 1 tells the story of Black Mesa. I agree with whoever it was that says that the G-Man seems like a host rather than a central character. But I don't see anything wrong with this being an episodic series: Self contained stories loosely connected to something greater. It was abrupt, but not really anticlimactic.

Anyway, good show. I will play through again once the update is released.

OMG TEH END OF HL5

So I need a kind soul to help me here. Im kind of new to PC gaming, and Im having problems with HL2 that i just cant figure out. Essentally textures dont seem to be loading. Im getting wire frames everywhere and thats it. Some stuff has texture, like people, and my hand and weapon, and some boxes. Beyond that though its a sea of white. All my drivers are updated. I have no idea where to go after that though. Even just a nudge in the right direction would help. Ive tried lowering the graphic quality of the game, with no effect.

try posting on the steampowered tech forums. i'd say that it's a driver issue, but if you have the most up to date version..

what kind of card is it?

Its a Radeon 9800 Pro. Im looking on the forums, but the search function has been disabled, so its been a pain in the ass trying to find a post relevant to my problem.
