The Hilt would snap. The tang would undoubtably snap. The hilt is wwwwaaaayyyyy too small/long. I'm sure of this. But I could be wrong I don't know much about the materials that would have to be used, but the tang would have to be different than the blade which would mean you'd have to several metals forged together with the strongest metal of the group being the tang.Quote:

If you embed the tang inside the blade, that shouldnt be a problem. Say....half of it into the blade. Selectively temper the tang so its not too hard/brittle. It would work just fine if you design and make it right.
You'd have to compensate for the huge difference in proportion. It's like a 20:1 size difference. I mean I guess I can't say it's impossible because I really don't know enough about forging, I know nothing about metals, so... yeah.
Well the tang should always be in the blade. The tang is the part of the blade that goes into the hilt, full tang means it goes all the way to the bottom of the hilt (well close) and half tang means it stops at like mid way. I just still see the blade snapping off the hilt when I imagine it being swung.
(that is my understanding of the tang, correct me if I'm wrong)
Just seems like something wouldn't be right.
Actualy, I remember that there was a model of a gun; possibly in that same book, that had a clip that had the bullets stored sideways, and then rotated them 90 degrees into the chamber before firing. That has cool all over it, yet according to my memory such a design would lead to major jamming all the time. Cest' la Vie or something..... :\Quote:

Yeah that makes sense as long as you vary the metals. If you used ONE metal there is no way I'd see it being a stable actual weapon (I've been meaning to say as an actual weapon, not a replica of sorts.)
Alright, makes sense to me, you'd need a good craftsmen to do it... ... ... Know anyone? :P
Someone made the Master Sword from Zelda, maybe he's up for it (it looked perfect too, there was a pic of it here but I think it got wiped out).
A replica would be as easy as molding the whole damn thing out of titanium. :)

I want to do a little bladesmithing before I go on to college, but I have a feeling the buster sword wont be my first project :lol:
