It's pretty good. But it's got more random battles than Skies of Arcadia. Like, 10 X more.
yeah its not bad....its no Lunar but then again what is :)
It's been a while and I didn't play too much of it, but I remember it being a very basic type RPG, the story seemed pretty good but the battles where very generic... a decent RPG but I would only recommend it to those who like RPG's. I enjoyed what I played of it though ^_^
The battles are pretty decent but the rest of the game didn't impress me. The overworld is very basic looking with small characters and simple buildings. Also the characters didn't have much personality ethier. I had chance to own a complete copy for free but passed. *-neo
I wanted to add that I remember liking the story a lot. There's one scene in particular that actually almost made me cry. I won't really spoil it, but it is a death scene.
If you can put up with all the fighting in Vay (pronounced like it rymes with "eye") I say go for it. It is very easy though. Throughout the entire game, you are always a lot more powerful than your enemies.
I remember owning it when I was in high school and trading it in for Popfulmail. I really could not get into it. Not a bad game... not a great one either. Mediocre at best...
Now Poplul Mail, that's a great game! I'd put it in the running for one of WDs best choices ever.
I remember becoming completely indulged in Vay. I was highly anticipating this game due to Working Designs bringing Lunar over here. I, for one, absolutely loved the story and cinematic sequences. In my eyes, it was very challenging and required A LOT of time leveling up and fighting battles (a bit more than I would have liked). All in all, I think it was a great game (it could have been due to the times) and believe that even today it would stand out as a solid RPG effort. Especially if you're one looking for old-school flavor.
As for Popful Mail, that game was near perfection...gnaw.
Poooooooooottttttttllllllleeeeeee!!!!.....Quote:

(hope that was what you were talking about jeff).
It was a merely so-so RPG imo, but at the time there wasn't much else worth playing on the sega cd. I think Bebop lover still has it lodged in his old sega cd machine; that was the last game we ever played on the poor thing. maybe if he can pry it loose he'll sell it to you.
I got Vay off of ebay almost two years ago, I should seriously think about playing it sometime :)
found one the other day, complete with strat guide, 40$. worth it ?Quote:

Is it worth it to you? Does it seem like a fair price?Quote:
