He's a piece of shit for dragging other people into his own problems. If he knew he was gay, he shouldn't have gotten married, and he sure as hell shouldn't have had an affair. Asking for a divorce would have been the decent thing to do.
Yeah, except that being gay and having an affair is nothing like beating your wife and driving the whole state into disrepair.
In all honesty, I believe he that so he would appear to be the victim than the dirtbag he was. Being removed from office due to being gay is better then being removed from office due to rampant corruption and blowing money on trips to Ireland.Quote:

He's scum.
Seems like he was able to get it up for a chick at least twice in his life.Quote:

Seriously, I feel bad for his wife most of all.
I feel bad for the wife and kids, I have very little sympathy for him though, as cheating on his wife puts her in danger as well.

I've read stuff from guys that have done that, and they usually say they fantasize about being with other guys. If they're "confused" that's usually what they say tips them off to being gay (Gee, ya think?), and if they knew they were gay and hiding it, well, I've never seen an excuse for that.Quote:

What a fucking low-life. I hear that a lot of gay people do stuff like that, getting married to keep it in the closet and whatnot. I'm not bashing on gay people because of that reason because a lot of straight people do crazy shit like that too. It's just people man, bunch of fucking idiots.
Jim McGreevey is one of the most corrupt individuals to walk the face of the Earth, but that's par for the course for state-level New Jersey Democrats.
He's trying to paint it as though he's resigning just because he had a gay affair, but that isn't all of it. Word is that someone who previously worked for McGreevey was about to slap him with a sexual harassment lawsuit, possibly as early as tomorrow. So, he decided to do it the easy way and "come out of the closet" today, rather than wait for this inevitable lawsuit to occur and have it revealed the hard way.
The timing is also nice--he wants to wait until November 15 to step down, so as to deny NJ voters the ability to vote for a new governor this year. The Dems must be really scared of the utter trouncing they'd be handed by Bret Schundler to have to stoop to this level.
I got Dolemowned, awesome.
Its a shame that term doesnt roll off the tounge better....
It's people like you with no compassion for others that force gays to live a lie. If society was accepting of his sexuallity early on, this never would of happened, but it didn't, so he acted on extremely repressed feelings. It's like pushing down on a spring until something gives. McGreevey's speech was beautiful and hit with blunt force.Quote:

Sorry, but I don't buy this. Yes, it was hard for him, but that doesn't excuse his selfishness when he decided to marry knowing that he wasn't into it. He was using her to help himself, and she doesn't deserve that. Being gay isn't an excuse to be a heartless asshole... if he had problems with his sexuality, he shouldn't have dragged another person into it, and he DEFINITELY shouldn't have fathered a child. It's incredibly unfair to both of them.Quote:

It's easy to say that when you're not him. You don't know what pressures he's been put through in his life; and in the same way, I don't know what life experiences shaped you and Gohron's world view, so I can't judge you, only your views.Quote:

I know. But you're still not him.Quote:

Exactly, you can't judge until you know practically the whole story. The only information we have is in his brilliant speech; and that would be a biased source. All I'm saying is that it's better to intially give someone the benefit of the doubt, before judging them on the face value of their actions.Quote:

He can't really use the whole "I'm not sure I'm gay" excuse after he's been pubes deep in some guy. He knew what his sexuality was, he knew he had a wife, and he chose to have the affair.
Does he have a reason for it? Probably. But it doesn't excuse what he did.
Dude, that attack was completely umerited. Who says I have no compassion, I'm one of the nicest fucking people you'll ever meet in real life, to anybody. I have no compassion for people who screw other people for their own gain, no, but I've never said anything close to degrading to any of the gay members of this board and have treated them the same as any member of the board. I may be conservative as hell but I don't hate on individuals for stuff they do, unless it's fucked up and screws other people. I don't know where you drew up the conclusion that I'm some crazy gay hater who nails them to crosses and shit.Quote:

I fully agree with Gohron. I've met far too many gay people who act like total assholes and then claim victimhood as an excuse for it. Yes, some people do have genuinely difficult lives, but there are many who treat their sexuality as free sympathy and it sickens me.
I'm sorry it came out that harsh. I just meant you shouldn't instantly expect the worst of people.Quote:

It also means you judged him without even reading what he had to say.Quote:

It means that he was sorry he got caught. :p
New Jersey's politics are the most fucked up in the nation. And I say that after living in California for 2 years.
Not only that...he married TWO women.Quote:
