November release for DS?

RUMOR: Gameindustry.biz reported that Nintendo of America is planning to launch the Nintendo DS in North America before the US Thanksgiving day on November 11, for $179.95. A Japanese launch will take place one week ahead of US release on November 4, for 19000 yen.

I read at IGN that November is the month as well. I plan on getting one sometime, I've read that the screen is backlit in a way that doesn't wash out the colors like the SP and having four face buttons is also nice. It's just a matter of when some worthwhile games come along.

wow. that's a lot sooner than i thought...and a bit more expensive than i would've hoped. oh well. i'll pick one up sooner or later.

Great news should give DS an edge over the PSP.

No great news doesn't give DS an edge, great games will.

Stick a period (or a comma), then a "that" after news and it'll make more sense.

Reggie's latest speech got me all excited about the DS again, though I wish they would quit with this "baby steps" crap about online gaming and just jump in. The DS has all the right hardware, and I don't care if only, like, 8% of the world has DSL. *I* have it. So gimme.

... I really don't see people picking a handheld up at a higher price than all of the current gen consoles. $150 would be a hard enough sell, but at $180, I'm afraid this thing ain't gonna do so well.

As much as I want to get my hands on one, it would be best to keep it in the oven until next June or July.

Hmmm... it seems strange that, if it is coming out in November, we've seen not one bit of a marketing campaign for it. (Or, I should say, I personally haven't seen anything.)

Seriously, best thing for the DS would be to launch about the same time as PSP, that way it's the middle ground for everyone who thinks the PSP is too much, but who want something a step up from the SP. Putting it out in November, the only other handheld on the market is $80 less... I don't think most people will be able to easily justify that difference.
