Whatever. It took them damn long enough.
It looks really shitty and dull, like a hi-res port of the N64 game. Kinda like Mario Golf for the GameCube.
Why am I not surprised at this.
Wow.Quote:

Yeah..not exactly. The environments and character models are eons better than the N64 version and I couldn't really imagine them looking better with anymore polygons than they have. Also from those screens, it looks like there's plenty of new stuff added like the giant squid, lizards all over the court, etc. This seems like a totally acceptable upgrade to a sports game, and I don't really know what more you would ask for.Quote:

This game was and still is the shit for N64. THE party game to play.
Ive always liked mario tennis better than virtua tennis, because of the different curves on the shots with different characters. You can play mind games on the serves, especially with a character like Boo or DK. You couldn't really do that in Virtua.
The charge shots are a gamble too in certain situations (returning serves) and added a whole other level of depth that other tennis games dont have.
As long as it runs smooth (the first one had some slow down) and they dont mess anything up, AND toad is playable again - it'll rock fo' sho'.
Well, thats Mario Tennis alright. I hope they bring out some of the lesser characters for play. Koopa Kids and Shyguys are where it's at.
This is one of the games I've been looking forward to most since buying a GC. :)
I love these games because they don't pretend to be realistic-Top Spin comes to mind here-and fail miserably.
That's the same way I feel about all sports games.
The cynics were saying the exact same thing when footage of Super Smash Bros. Mele started surfacing, and it turned out to be one of the Gamecube's premier titles.Quote:

I remain optimistic.
The giant squid alone makes me want to play this.
This is a bad thing? Last time I checked Mario Tennis was one of, if not the best tennis game. It is still also a great multiplayer game too. I do agree that Nintendo is kind of doing the 'recycling method' on their games (Mario Golf, Kart, Tennis, Party)..but I expect that. As long as it is fun that is all that matters.Quote:

Maybe I'll pick it up when it becomes a Player's Choice six months after it comes out.
No, that is not all that matters. It's 2004 dammit, I want to play games that are up to date graphics and play-wise, and I want solid attempts at innovation and freshness. There's plenty of those being released nowadays, why bother with a rehash of a 2000 game? I played that one in 2000, I dont want to play it in 2004.Quote:

Looks like fun to me. Bring it on...
Pics for magicbox.
Wow. I love the Mario Bros classic course. That kicks ass.
I want to be skeptical, but I think it's actually looking pretty good.
Just found out my g/f is a huge SSBM freak, that along with the Metroid bundle, and now Mario Tennis, might be incentive enough to get a GC. Oh yeah, and RE4...damn, how'd I forget about that?
Wow! I am SO happy that we are getting this amazingly original, super fun game from Nintendo this year! It looks SOOOO awesome! I was pretty upset because there weren't many good games coming out this holiday season, just Tiger Woods and Burnout3 but THANK GOD FOR NINTENDO! YOU SAVED CHRISTMAS!
I think I finally have a game to buy in 2004!!!
Its great to see Nintendo to continue to whore out their past by putting in references to the times when they were good in their games. SSBM, 1080 Avalanche (with the NES pad board), the whole classic GBA series, and now this. Just beautiful.
Also, it is good to see they are putting these references into the same game I spent $50 on and played four years ago. I mean, who needs online play, right?
Nintendo really is on a roll guys.
DiffusionX I believe this news WHOLE HEARTILY!Quote:

I LOVED this game on the N64 and even though it is exactly the same, I will put down another $50 dollars because this looks VERY ORIGINAL AND FUN! Plus, the $50 dollars is a bargain price considering that the N64 game cost like $80 bucks! Nintendo is doing us a favor!
GO NINTENDO!
I dunno, if EA can pull off the same type of yearly updates and you happen to enjoy them then why can't Mario Tennis?Quote:

01. I dont play any of EA's sports games.Quote:

Yes, I also want to get another GBA because it now has the oh-so-hip and culturally revelant tribal tattoo design. That makes me forget about a lack of innovation, extreme reliance on franchises, and the fact that their games aren't good anymore.Quote:

I'm hardly a Nintendo apologist, but I can't really see what there is to update here. If you paid $50 for the old game and don't want to upgrade, great, don't. If you haven't played the old game or don't have it anymore, this one will most likely be better anyway. Just like any other sports game.
Even so, I don't see you complaining about them. I realize that you can just come back at me with this reason....Quote:

I loved Mario Tennis on the 64 more than should be legal but, I'm VERY aprehensive as to how this title will turn out. From all I've read, it seems Camelot decided to portray "wacky" tennis, instead of the perfect (yes, PERFECT) blend of arcade and realism that was in the original. I could be wrong, considering how much Camelot rocks, but I refuse to get too excited.
So it doesn't have online play. whats the big deal? last I checked you couldn't play tennis with more than 4 people anyway. if you can't get 3 people to play this game with you in the same room as you then you suck, and your mom is a minga.
Mario Tennis on N64 was nearly perfect. My friends and I still play it often. My only complaint was the lack of stuff to do in single player. Fix that, spruce up the graphics, and add a couple new multiplayer modes and you have an excellent update.
Because it's so easy to get together with four friends, you know, when they aren't busy with work, school, family, social obligations, significant others, etc etc etc.Quote:

Indeed. Most of my friends haven't touched a Nintendo game in literally a decade. I don't plan on putting out a want ad saying "Mario Tennis players wanted" either. Online would be nice.Quote:

My friend wanted to get it, and I told him to not be stupid and just get Half Life 2.Quote:

Mario Golf on the GC and GBA were very fucking awesome, but for some reason Nintendo isn't pushing this game at all, which worries me.
mario tennis is very similar to nearly all of nintendo's gc games. excellent, but little more than an upgrade to its n64 version.
course, this is all hearsay. gta + halo + half-life = !(mario tennis)
I've heard mainly great things, plus it's been stated that the challenge really ramps up as you go.
The intro is great stuff, Camelot should really head up a CGI mario TV series or movie or something.
Considering none of those games have anything to do with a pick up and play tennis game, I don't see how it affects anything.Quote:

I'm just wondering if it'll be the same kind if it'll be able to hold my interest the way Mario Golf did. I never played a previous Mario Golf or Tennis game, but Mario Golf is probably the only golf game i've really enjoyed.Quote:

Picked it up 4 days ago...so far it's what I expected. Same old pick up and play greatness. Recommended on multiplayer alone.
Ok, well, what about multiplayer with alot of single player?Quote:

It's 2000 all over again.
Yeah, man, Nintendo is milkin' this franchise for all they're worth. A Mario Tennis game once a generation, that's like once every 4 years! And the fact that they've implemented a healthy handful of mode and gameplay additions and made the game look like a thousand times better than it's predecessor? Pfft, they're not fooling us into thinking that actually takes any work. The frickin' NERVE of those bastards.
I see that they have implemented some Sarcasm Milk in the Nintendo Tit.
All it needs now is some tangible taste.
Come now, I'm not N-bot. One installment of a game per gen, with a fair amount of upgrades over the previous outing, is far from excessive. If we were talking about Mario Party, you'd have a point.
I don't think you can reverse the != like that.Quote:

They hated the themed courts cause you couldn't see the ball that well....
it's kind of a cs thing. !(TRUE) evaluates to FALSE.Quote:
