The new EGM has a preview of a new game based on Al Pacino's classic (and somewhat overrated) movie. Yes, you guessed it, it's a GTA-style Scarface game for PS2 and Xbox. I guess the game's developer figured that, since Rockstar 'borrowed' some elements of the the GTA series from the Scarface movie, it would be fine to blindly rip-off Rockstar when making their own game. Of course, what else could they do with the Scarface license? A 2D side-scrolling beat-em-up? A drug-dealing RPG?
Anyway, the game is a sequel to the film. How the fuck could that be, you ask? Well, according to the article, despite pratically OD-ing on coke and getting pumped with a million bullets at the end of the movie, Tony Motana does indeed survive (thus ruining what was a cool ending) and goes on to rebulid his criminal empire and plot his revenge. And he does it GTA-style...on foot or in cars, boats, and planes.
The developers (Radical Games) promise not to skimp in any way on the violence, language, or sexuality, keeping true to the spirit of the movie. They really pushed the fact in the interview that they want to shock people with the game's content. They're negoiating with name actors to do the voice work, but there's no word if Al Pachino's involved.
Could be a decent GTA clone, but I'm sure it'll be no GTA. No doubt all the Scarface-obsessed rap homies will be in heaven.
Anyway, I scanned a few pics from the article for your amusement. Enjoy.
