Killer. I sold mine about a month ago on EBAY for nearly $60.
As did I. I read about this on the CAG boards, and I don't think it's known yet if the game will get new packaging.
You've gotta be FUCKING kidding me. I took time off work to come home and bid on a copy last wednesday for $56. Just received it tonight when I got home from work. Just opened THE FUCKING SEALED THING TWO HOURS AGO AND NOW I READ THIS.I read four game magazines a month (but not OPM), TNL, AND Cheapassgamer and I missed this news.
Sounds to me like you wouldn't have waited another three months anyway. Either way, . =)Quote:

I think mine went for $35.
Hot damn! I'm glad I realized I didn't want to spend such an absurd amount of cash on this game when I could just use a questionable copy on my Dreamcast.
Now, I can finally buy it at a decent price.
Next, why not a Valkyrie Profile rerelease, eh Enix?
+1 on the wishlist. This is great news.
That is awesome news. I bought mine used at Blockbusters for $12.99, hehe, so I am still ahead of the re-release price! :D
Wow...
This makes my $5 circuit city copy less impressive.
Good, I never got gouged for Rez, now I won't have to.
Got me the Japanese LE with the trance vibrator for $35 a few months ago, I'm set.
Finally, Rez gets released closer to a price its gameplay can justify.
If it's got Greatest Hits packaging, no thanks. Otherwise, maybe.
If it has Greatest Hits packaging, that would be good for a false advertising suit. :lol:Quote:

That packaging might actually fit the cover art, although I would imagine that the will alter it in some way.
If it does come out with the GH packing (or any other cover art) I'll pick up a third copy.
Who gives a fuck about the packaging? On topic, now I can finally pick this game up and see what all the fuss is about!Quote:

is just funny. No two ways around it, as great as the game is there's no way on earth it earned the red stripe of the Greatest Hits line.Quote:

Well, if VF 4 Evo can get it, despite never being released outside of being a GH in the U.S., then it isn't outside the realm of plausibility for Rez to get it.
True. But when the second comment follows up his first it just comes off as trolling to me.Quote:

My thoughts exactly. Had I found this during the $5 Circuit City clearance, it would have been mine. The CC in my hometown had a copy for years at $50, and after having played the Dreamcast version, I have absolutely no interest in paying more than $15-$20 for the game. I mean, it's fun, but I don't see what was so incredibly engaging and mindblowing about it. It looks nice, yeah.Quote:

And yeah, seriously, heh. My PS1 collection is still all original games, but that's more because when I find both used, I'll take the black packaging. I agree that the neon green and red was hideous, but the game inside is still more important, and when it's $10, I don't really care what it comes in.Quote:

In the long run, you pretty much forget about the little green or red strip on the case while you're playing the game. That and the fact that it comes at a bargain, it's beyond me how people still complain about box labellingQuote:

No one, obviously. I usually prefer to view the cases with the original art not being obscured by stuff. If Sony had just stuck with a red stripe instead of a black one, I wouldn't give a shit, but the half-oval over the cover art takes away from whatever aritistic vision and beauty was there to begin with.
The Undead Hero begs to differ.Quote:

Ah, good ol' Undead Hero MobyGames.com. Maybe you should attach that picture instead.
PS2 greatest hits packaging isn't bad, much more low-key than that day-glo PS1 crap.
$19.99? That'll be a few Christmas presents out of the way this year. *-neo
Sly Cooper looks better with the Greatest Hits packaging.
And the game is still the same, only cheaper. Nothing but good news there. I've already played and finished Rez on about all the trance modes there are, but I'd still like to own a copy.
Sony has never stated what constitutes for GH. I had come to the conclusion that GH said the game sold decent, but less then expected... then VF4: Evo hit...Quote:

It's better. I think that qualifies.
Ok, ok, here's real reasons: no slowdown at all, better control (imo, at least), and Trance Vibrator compatibility.
The PS2 has smoother framerate for most of the game, but the boss battle hiccups every once in awhile. Not sure if the actual ingame gfx is better or worse.... or the sound, I can't tell hehe.Quote:

Perhaps it's a mental problem I have (in fact, I'm pretty sure it is), but playing Greatest Hits games feels the same to me as playing emulation, rented games, or someone else's games--I don't feel like I completely own it, and my motivation to play it is much less. Plus, for collection's sake, the packaging looks bad.
LAWWLL!!Quote:

Thanks for that massive contribution to the thread, diff. Korly, Sly Cooper looks fantastic both with and without the GH stuff, although I wish they'd have released the GH art on non-GH packaging at some point. When they introduced the GH line, Sony did announce some guidelines, but as with PSX GH stuff, those guidelines evaporated quickly. While I don't feel that buying GH represents me supporting Satan, I will hold off on buying something if I know I can get the game through some other means without it.
The price on the originals should still drop down with a rerelease, GH or not. Most people aren't as touched in the head as most here, and buy games just to play them (sometimes without the box OR instructions).
I would die.
I buy plenty of older games without boxes or instructions, but when the storage taken up with the boxes is rather minute, as is the case with DVD cases, I'd rather have them complete. I didn't pass up on Jak and Daxter or Headhunter earlier this year, despite them not having instructions, which no longer matter much to me anyway.

99% of the time the GH rerelease has the exact same UPC code as the original. As far as anyone's concerned it's the exact same game. If the store computer thinks it's the same thing then as far as anyone's concerned, it is.

Yes, but what's more hideous is buying a preowned copy that belonged to a retard who handled it after picking his nose, scratching his ass, and fingering his sister-bride.Quote:

So is there a date for this reissue? Ebgames and Gamestop don't have any info on Rez (except for preplayed versions).
Still no word on the re-release? I was hoping to give out a copy for a Christmas present, but if Sega can't be bothered to release it I'm actually going to have to work at thinking of something rather than take the easy route of giving the gift of Rez.
James
Woah, Rez during Christmas time would be awesome. I'd really like a copy.Quote:

Xeno, did they show the original art for Rez, or was it a different, possibly re-release based cover?
wow I hate to say it but that's pretty much word for word the same reason I hate GH titles. Plus your collection is instantly flawed (unless the title's only available as a GH, like VF4:EVO).Quote:
