Gamecube, Dreamcast, Xbox, or PS2?
the grey saturn......(made by hitachi?).
of those listed id say the ps2. the xbox is just really brash and annoying, the bouncy gc one isnt too bad but the DC just kinda grates.
The best is the DC because it can be skipped.
The worst is the PS2 because it needs a boot-up screen for its boot-up screen.
Either the Master System or Sega CD for all time. For this current gen poll I guess I will pick Gamecube.
Where's the alternate GameCube one?
Gamecube, hands down.
The worst is the Xbox. I hate that noise.
I choose, "stupidest poll ever".
Sega CD, followed by the GC. The Saturn's is rather neat though, and features the best start-up logo.
GameCube easily. If the PS2 was just the "bloop" at the end it'd rock as well. And Xbox is the worst by far.
PS2. If only it were shorter, though.
You obviously don't frequent GameFaqs or IGN boards.Quote:

I like the GC and DC noises most. I wish they were all shorter, though.
Oddly enough, a similar topic was created on this very board several months ago. The only difference is that it asked board members to vote for the "best startup sequence."Quote:

I also like the DC one, always have. I can't see how it's grating or irritating. But NeoZeedeater is right about SMS. The only reason I kept my SMS1 after I got the second model SMS was the awesome startup sound... well, the card slot, too, but the startup sound was awesome.
Dreamcast and Game Cube. I also liked the varitations on Genesis.
I love the Dreamcast one, followed by the Gamecube one.

love the DC's, plus it's skippable.. PS2's and GC's are fine, nothing great.. but xbox's is just a bunch of crappy explosions that grate on the ears.
The PS2 "bloop" is awesome. Definitely the best game system sound ever. That synthesizer crap before it is lame, and sounds like all the other systems.

It SUCKS.
It's so INNOVATIVE. and HARD EDGE. and SYNTHY.
PS2's annoys the shit out of me. It's way louder than it should be. But I do however, enjoy the blocks screen.
If we're going to talk system screen, I'd say the SEGA Saturn's Spaceship 'o Doom has them all beat.
No Neo Geo? That has the most pleasing sound at startup.
Of the poll, I like the Saturn or the DC.
Sega Master System
Xbox with a sub-woofer. Second place goes to DC.
... oh yes, and a SNES with a Capcom game in it.
True, didnt think of that one, Capcoms old beats we're the shit.
It's all about hte alternate GC start up noises, no other consoles start up is nearly as creepy.
Alternate GC noises? Say what now?
Protip: Hold the Z button while your GameCube is booting up to hear an alternate start-up sound!
I'll try that out later, thanks for the tip.
Theres a third noise if you have all four controllers plugged in and press Z on all of them
It's a squeeking like clown shoes followed by a childs laughter.Quote:

Y'all are right about the alternate intro GC sounds. I'm going to freak my friends out next time we play GC, mwaha.
Ugh, I cannot read a thread without your whiney, lame, negative ass pissing all over it. Please, I am begging you, shut the fuck UP.Quote:

I like the Dreamcast sound, soft and not too obnoxious.
yeah, that one's a lot better than the first alternate. well, maybe not better, but there's less giggling.Quote:

There's a more centric, welcoming feeling about it, a tinge of old-school in the sound, an application of 3D and...advancement (or refinement?) in the logo itself (but much better than the 3D N64 and PS logos), and it even integrates a giant "G" and "C".
PS2's is nice and slick, but I hate that ambiguous "outer space" thing that first pops up (complete with floating GameCubes o_O).
The DC's low key startup grew on me; at first I was hoping for something flashier. But it's my favourite on that list.
Why the hell would you ever go there, let alone frequent them?Quote:

My subwoofer has a sexual relationship with the DC boot. I'll vote for that one.
Yeah, I was gonna say the NGPC. I love that little song.
Sega CD is best of all, but I like PS2's best of this generation. Xbox starts annoyingly, ends somewhat nicely but combines to just be an awful din to endure before you play. DC was too high-pitched. GC is ok, a bit if toyish.
How true. The PS2's noise, "Voooun" or whatever, is pretty slick. I'm surprised everyone hates it so, I like it. The Dreamcasts startup is great, not just because you can skip it, just the sound is very soft and original. The Gamecube noise got old for me and the xbox sounds like a beaten up Ford Shadow. Pass.Quote:

I listened to the alternate GC one while booting DoR up, that is damned creepy, and awesome.
I like the original PlayStation's as much as any. Had a nice high-tech feel at the time. A little mysterious.
If anyone has seen the "alternate" DC boot up thing that never happened, that one gets my vote. It was a bunch of orange balls on a black background bouncing around until they spelled Dreamcast. It was really happy.
But for now, I vote Neo Geo Pocket Color. Or GC.
Sega CD is best with all that scaling/rotation stuff going on with the music playing.
No Jaguar?? Gotta love that growl even though the system was shit.
Yeah, cause I do that in every thread and post as often as you. Nice one.Quote:

My favorite one EVER would be the Neo-Geo startup. Short at just eight notes long, and damn elegant. Honorable mention goes to Sega CD for that pimp music it plays while waiting for you to load a CD- while the scaling and rotation effects are impressive, it's mainly about the synth-orchestra groove.
Jaguar.
Bitches.
who to the what now?Quote:

It was on dc.ign.com a few months before the DC "died". I'm not sure if they still have it, but I'm sure if you dig around you can find it there. It wasn't announced as an alternate start-up screen, but I guess they had a demo of a game or something and that came up instead of the normal boot.Quote:

Out of those on the poll--DC
Overall--Sega CD and Neo Geo
I like my intro's nice and relaxing, not loud and obnoxious.
I voted for the Dreamcast, though my favorite is the U.S. Sega Saturn's intro.
I can't recall how the Sega CD one went. I sold that system around 95, to buy games for my Saturn.
It ha cool music an a neat graphic. Thats it really. But it was cool.
:sonic: Maybe I am biased (having worked at Sega locally in the past) but the DC start up is cool. But I'd like to see a vote on best corporate intro screen. Sonic Team would win that for their "Nights" game on Saturn with honorable mention to Shiny for "Earthworm Jim".
Yeah, Earthworm Jim's was great. Can't say the same for 2... What about Bakuretsu Muteki Bangaioh (DC/N64)?Quote:
