I'm sure you all know about the wonders of Listerine's Pocketpak breath strips. These little babies have sure saved my breath on more than one occasion. Let's extol the virtues of these powerful benefactors of mankind and delve into their history a bit, shall we?
Listerine PocketPaks were invented by the Pfizer corporation back in 1937 by a talented team of scientists headed by Dr. Jovon Invanshvsich (center), who later went on to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for his work in manual animal insemination.

The reason it took so long for Pfizer to introduce the PocketPaks to the general public was the long and arduous testing process. Certain mishaps occurring with laboratory test subjects delayed the launch of the exciting new product, but Dr. Invanshvsich's talented team would not be deterred.

The testing continued. Brave homeless people were enlisted and endured little to no discomfort as the brilliant Pfizer team explored every chemical and biological possibility, but time was running out.

The Germans were hard at work on their own mouth freshening creation. Hitler, long plagued by what was known as "Panzerfaust Breath", had commissioned a special branch of the SS to create what The Führer had dubbed "Schlechter Atemstreifen", or "Bad Breath Strips". The Allies knew they were in for the race of their lives. All available resources were pooled to ensure that Dr. Invanshvsich's team would prevail over the Nazi "Final Solution" to bad breath.

Against all odds, the Pfizer team sometimes worked up to 12 hours in a single week and, thankfully, their hard work paid off. At 1:35 PM on Saturday, January 14th, 1937, Dr. Invanshvsich stumbled onto the formula which would ensure the fresh breath of generations to come. Hitler finally had known true defeat. Unable to deal with this, he would later shoot himself in the head in his private bunker in Berlin.
