pony car comeback?

Will the pony car ever return as the sort of vehicle that sells in the tens of thousands, or will it be resigned to being just a niche product?

I still see tons of new Ford Mustangs. Unless they don't count anymore.

But I think that pony cars have been somewhat replaced by rice rockets, either legitimately (Subaru WRX, Lancer Evo), or illegitimately (Honda Civic, Acura Integra).

I consider my WRX a modern day "pony car".

I'd still rather have a GTO.

A good start and a great classic, but Plymouth Superbird > other muscle cars.

Hehe. I forgot about the Superbird. The Dodge Dart rocked, too.

I was looking for a new car a couple months ago and I really wanted a pony type car.

I ended up with an 1989 Honda Wagovan.
