ESPN Turns 25...
ESPN turns 25 today (or was it yesterday), and theyve been pulling out all the stops.
I love ESPN. I started watching it when I was 12 or so, and I used to turn it on while I got ready for school. While its had its ups and downs (I didnt like many of their fictional shows, although Junction Boys was decent), they have thankfully stayed true to their core, which is showing lots of sports clips, lots of sports analysis, and so forth.
Plus, man, ESPN2 shows all those weird sports that have become a part of Americana. Who hasnt watched World's Strongest Man? Or the Lumberjack Competitions? This is great television, folks.
Also, ESPN.com just might be the best site on the internet. The site design is a wonder and I cant believe they make so much information so easily available. I read Page 2 every day, and the columns are a model that everybody with columns should follow. Page 3 is just okay but, again, ESPN always seems to falter a bit when they stray from their core.
They just inveiled SportsNation, which is like a Page2 daily show from 9-5 every single day. I like it so far, but it seems like they got Visual Concepts to make the creepy heads that are supposed to be like the sportscasters (because theyre as ghoulish as Suze Kolber and Chris Berman in NFL2K5). Also it doesnt work 100% in Mozilla.
So anyway, there's my sloppy fellatio to ESPN. I know Im not the only one, so spread the love. ^_^
edit: hey can a mod move this? I put it in the wrong forum.

Happy birthday, ESPN! I'll be 25 soon, too!

I never realized the greatness of ESPN and ESPN2 until I saw the jump roping championships.
What a truly special network.

Espn has its ups it down.. However if your team does not reside in the northeast.. ESPN is not for you. All stick the best sports page in the country, the LA Times... otherwise World Serries of Poker, The Little League World Serries, and Ping Pong championships are always great to watch..

Sunday NFL Primetime where they do the highlights of the NFL games is probably the best show on the network. The phrases Berman and Tommy Jackson come up with are priceless.

Best channel ever. It was amazing how many of the plays and games they showed on the 25th Anniversary Show I had seen when they originally occurred.
