I didn't know she told him and the next day I was watching nip/tuck and my dad called; "Hey mom told me you're gay and i just want to say its okay and i understand, life is crazy but you'll be fine and I'll always love you no matter what." I thought he would have flipped out. My mom still asks dumb things like "Have you tried liking a girl" or "maybe you havent met the right girl yet..." crap, but I think shes starting to understand. I'm very lucky. The same with my friends, I didn't lose anyone to it.
Also, I'm positive being gay is not a chosen thing. I don't understand why people won't accept that.

In the (paraphrased) words of George Carlin, "You'd think the Christians and Gays would make natural allies - who has less abortions than gay people?"
I just find it amusing that our education system is in shambles, there are poor children starving in the streets, people are denied needed healthcare because they lack insurance, and there are Americans who actually care *more* about the marital status of some gay people.
And they're all supposed Christians. And that's just fucked up.
Yes, it is, and the Carlin special with that statement rules, and makes many other valid points about the subject as well. Andrew, I think Chao's point was that this woman seemingly decided to put clothes shopping ahead of making sure her children were at least comfortable. Since it's impossible for anyone else to judge the severity of the screaming, or her lack of concern, since we weren't there, the best word to go on is Chao's, which would seem to make the woman out to be in need of a reality check of her own.

Yes, it wouldn't directly effect their lives like banning gay marriage would to the gays, but "traditional" belief systems like theirs are not individualist, they're collectivist, so they wouldn't make the same distinction we would.
Sorry for bringing abortion up (but you already did).... but the paradox of neutrality is best explained by using it.
A woman is pregnant and according to her belief structure abortion is justified. But what if her "child" would grow up to be a Christian, in which according to their belief structure abortion is wrong.
No abortion, the "child's" belief structure is infringing on the parent's.
Abortion, the parent's belief structure is infrigining on the "child's".
There is no right or wrong answer.
Damn, I wish my bro Captain Veggie was still on TNL then we tag team this thread the way we used to do back in the day. There's so much ignorance about Christianity in this thread it's silly.
I'd try to shed some light here, but without my Bro here to feed off of and back me up I just don't care anymore.
I missed posting for a day so there was too much to catch up on there, maybe I'll bother Captain Veggie into coming back for a few hours :PQuote:

It's pretty much the same thing, the New Testemant tells you to "hate the sin but love the sinner".
Mike brought up something along the lines that Christians are not thinking for themselves when it comes to judging people, at least that's the way I read it. It's simple Mike, Christians have no room to judge people because we all sin like crazy whether we will admit it or not so wouldn't that be hypocrisy? Homosexuality itself is not a sin, it's the acts commited because of it, but all sin is the same in the eyes of God so in effect, hating someone who is a homosexual or anyone for that matter is looked at in the same manner as God as commiting a homosexual act. Homosexual people still have the same right to go to heaven as any other person, as long as they accept the sacrifice Jesus has made for them (don't mean to be preachy).
AstroBlue responded to a part of one of my posts that got me sort of pissed. He quoted the line where I brought up the four major religions and called them bullshit, just seemed a little misplaced to me as I don't believe I expressed "bullshit" in the entire post.
