Kagero 2: Dark Illusion

According to The Magic Box:

- Tecmo announced Kagero 2: Dark Illusion for PlayStation 2, the a new installment of the Tecmo Deception / Kagero series. In which you create traps and pitfalls in your mansion, and lead people to fall into your traps.



God bless Tecmo for realizing they have an amazing franchise not being used! I loved all 3 of the Deception games on PS1, and this new one is definately the game that will get me to buy a PS2 again (bastard launch unit crapped out on me). As long as they don't put in those annoying wizards.............

This is great news. Definitely a franchise that needed a next-gen update.

I have the first deception... Still remember the first time I killed this couple and at the end of the mission, it zooms in a kid sobbing "Mommy.... Daddy....." That's one hell of a game!

I'm glad to see other people are as pumped about this as I am. This news has spurred me to go and buy Kagero and Deception 2.

Kagero was Deception 2, Deception 3 was Dark Delusion... which is a little close for comfort titularically to the just-announced offering, IMO.

They're making the numbering a little convoluted:
Tecmo's Deception
Kagero: Tecmo's Deception II
Deception III: Dark Delusion
Kagero II: Dark Illusion (Deception IV)

Interesting, my memory must be fading me because I definately didn't remember that. Oh well, that means there is just more Deception goodness for me to replay!

I never got around to playing the second or third one, but the first one still gives me some cheap pleasure every once in a while. I'll just load up my game with my castle that has 2 gargantuan hallways with the foot smasher or the poison spikes littered all over the place and go to town.

Oh fuck yes!

I just tried playing part 3 about 2 months ago (for the first time) and I just couldn't do it. God awful graphics, poorly translated story, and digital control make for a terrible experience.

It's gonna fucking rock on Xbox though.


EDIT: Fuck! It's only on PS2.
