Actually the original Morrowind always ran pretty well on my pc when it came out but that was after some tweaking here and there (and using a no cd crack which killed the annoying copy protection that actually checked for the cd once in awhile.) Not saying I got 60fps mind you..but it was still smooth at the time.
Hopefully the copy protection in Oblivion won't be as intrusive as the one in Morrowind.
As for that paying for official mods..I don't know about that. I mean if these are full fledged mods with LOTS of content then fine but if they think I'm gonna pay money for some weapons pack, sound pack or some other crap like that then'll I'll leave it all up to the modders to make up a good pack/mod. Morrowind had GREAT user mod support..so much content available! I'm sure Oblivion will have plenty of great mods too.
